MLB TV

Some other ways to see these games:

1. Dish carries ESPN Deportes (Ch. 854) which you can get for tonight. It will be in Spanish though.
2. MLB.tv has a $20 WBC package with the games.

I took option 2 and hooked the laptop up to the HDTV.

Can I always get ESPN Deportes or are they doing this just for the WBC?

ahh, i thought you meant i would get ESPN Deportes tonight for free. i now understand you meant i could call dish and turn it on for tonight only.

This is just so disappointing. I was okay with the loss of Extra Innings because even though I bought it every year I realized I didn't watch it that much.

But to not offer the stand alone MLB channel is a killer because ESPN is just not enough baseball news for me, I don't care for their style of coverage. Hard core fans of baseball deserve something more than ESPN's daily gossip and sensationalism. MLB was at the top of my wish list and I didn't think Dish Network would reject them outright.

Unfair per-sub pricing and all-tier demands aside, MLB seems like a must have for any subscription television provider.

I'm leaving Dish after 10 years if they don't get the MLB Network by Opening Day. DirectTV will inherit another customer. And I'm a Dish "premium" customer paying over $100 a month.

I have been with Dish for alot of years and I too will be leaving by opening day if Dish does not open up WPCH for us to watch the 46 Braves games they will be carrying again this year. Directv opened up this channel for their customers last year, so why can't Dish? I am a Premium customer also paying them $100.00 a month. I love my Dish 622 but I can live without it.

Charlie Chat

In the latest Charlie Chat he said something about MLB Network being available for half price on the internet and then being able to watch that on your DVR... Did anybody have any clue what he was talking about? It didn't make much sense to me.

I can't understand why MLB is not available on Dish.

Currently we have NBA, NHL and NFL channels. The NFL channel is available even though Dish doesn't have NFL Sunday Ticket (Directv exclusive).

So there is precedence for having a sport channel (NFL) without having the season subscription available.

It seems every other provider has all four of these channels. Charlie better get off the pot before he loses even more subscribers...

Alas, I am stuck for awhile due to getting the .01 Cinemax deal, etc.

But, I can guarantee you when my contract comes up, if they don't have MLB I will be strongly pursuing other options(mainly Uverse). Hell, if I can get Uverse and they'll give me enough to counterbalance the Dish early termination fees, I'll go earlier.

It is ridiculous that every other carrier has this channel, but not Dish. I'm a huge baseball fan, and anyone who is would love this channel. Dish is making a big mistake here, annoying baseball fans.

We still don't have CBS in HD here in West Michigan, and that angers many with Dish, with the NCAA tourney about to start.

You just add it all up, and the minuses start to outweigh the pluses.

Uverse is not available where I am in SE WI but have a friend in Dallas area who has 'U' and MLBN is not available to them...Do your homework first

Last I knew, MLB was not avaliable on UVerse in STL. Also..Ergen's comment about you can watch MLB on the internet disgusts me. What about all of his customers that live in rural America that do not have access to decent high speed internet?? Just yesterday we got a phone bill from Verizon and it had a ton of ad's in it trying to get us to sign up for high speed internet..but if you ever try and ask them when they will upgrade our crappy phone lines(seing as we were the last phone exhange in IL to leave party lines) so that maybe we can talk static free for once they just tell us that there is no money for it and yet they can install fiber-optics everywhere?!? Now to get back on track:rolleyes:, Ergen also said that not everyone would want to have a dedicated sports channel on their packages...once again what the HECK?!?!? Anybody ever heard of the NFL Network...personally I could care less about having it but we do beacuse it is in the package and yet he says that about MLB. I think someone's ear peice must not have been working during the Chat.

There is always the option to switch to one of the MANY other providers that carry both EI and MLBNet

Contractual. MLB required all providers to carry EI in order to carry this channel. Any provider without EI will not be able to carry MLBNet

i too will be leaving dish if they do not get the baseball channel, since getting dish in early december of last year i have had nothing but trouble with their service and customer support and their made up charges. they proclaim to have the best customer service around, what a lie.

MLB.TV can use MLB network for the WBC but they do not offer it 24/7 streaming, hopefully I can get it with my MLBTV sub soon.

I second this. Does anyone know what Charlie's comment was referring too? He said you could download MLB through a VIP receiver.

Caller
Q: David
MLB network?
A: We don't carry it because we would have to put it in all of our packages.(we don't want to burden everyone)

Well, I Guess that I'm SWITCHING to DirectTV in April.

No MLB Network on DishNet is B.S. Charlie!

This Gold/Premium DN customer for 10 years won't be handing Charlie and Jimmy any more moola for them to spend at the Casino gaming tables in Vegas.

Any suggestions on which DirectTV Tivo/DVR reciever I should get? Or are any new HD recievers w/Tivo or DVR being offered in the next couple of months?

I'll miss my VIP622...but I absolutely REFUSE to stay with the only major cable or sat. provider who is too stupid and too cheap to add MLBN.
