MLB TV TO AIR CARIBBEAN SERIES!!!!

I am glad they are doing some really good stuff on their network to get interest in it. Having the live announcement of the HOF was great.

Yup, and there WILL be problems when the '09 season rolls around. There WILL be growing pains. But, from what little they have shown in the first 15 days, this is a well-thought-out and well-planned network for which only the sky is the limit. :up

But if you think about, baseball, outside of soccer....is played professionally at a very high level year round. Alot of the Latin players go home in the winter and play in their professional from late November until late January for the Caribbean World Series and then two weeks later....spring training starts!

MLB planned it perfectly to coincide with the World Baseball Classic!

Nice!! another option to watch the Caribbean Series besides the channels on SatMex... and hopefully i'll be there :D (Mexicali, the city which will host it is about 3 hours from where I live).

:D

Cheers!

Cool! I will be at all the games here in Miami....just got them as an advance birthday gift...!!!!!

I was going to say it stinks it's on MLB Network and not MLB.TV, but it might be on MLB.TV in their offseason package (plus I can watch the Caribbean series feed off the satellite directly, anyways).

Do major leaguers pitch in these games? Do major league teams worry about the wear and tear on their pitchers' arms?

They do and it has ALWAYS been an issue. I can see both sides, the players wanna play for the country because latin player love to give back to the community by playing and setting up baseball camps. The owners have a huge financial investment on these players...so I can see their side too. Usually, the BIG NAME players only play the last month of the Winter Ball to avoid any major injuries.

Oh... you may be confusing the Caribbean Series with the Baseball Classic, in the Caribbean series play the champion from the winter leagues in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Venezuela, in a round robin with 6 games (2 against each other, one as 'away' team and one as a 'home' team).

Usually the series is star ridden because players love to demonstrate their level, mostly because of the love of baseball and in secondly because there are a lot of scouts (a very high number of latinamerican players get signed to the MLB after playing a big role for their country).

Of course there's also the occasional 'old' player, like Scott Erickson, former Oriole, who was playing in Mexico and had a good year with the team from the city of Hermosillo. There's the case also, of Ruben Rivera, who's playing in the finals for the Mazatlan Deers, against the team from Mochis (The Sugarcane Growers), Mazatlán by the way it's 3-0 in the series.

If you have ESPN Deportes, the spanish version of ESPN, you can catch the 4th game of the series this Sunday at about 6-6:30 pm Pacific Standard Time.

Cheers
