MLB network

Iceberg, do you have any idea what MLB wants Dish to do if they get it? Are they insisting it be in packages, or can it be separate? If in packages, any idea what that cost is? Also, as far as we know, is MLB still insisting to get the MLB channel, you have to have MLB EI also?

I honestly dont know. I dont see why it cant be in a package like NHL, NBA and NFL channels are. Maybe MLB wants it in all packages and Dish wants it in say AT200 and above.

MLB is offering Dish the MLB network by its self. The extra innings package has been dropped. Mayby news coming in day or two

Dish is starting to get ridiculous... I dont understand why it's so hard for them to just add MLBNet and full time RSNs. We've been waiting for years now on that.

I don't want to know how you know, but PLEASE tell me this is true.......

Didn't U-Verse add MLB Network without Extra Innings? I assume Extra Innings has been out of the picture for awhile now and if any negotiation is taking place it is for MLB Network by itself.

Back when Direct made the offer, the best place for info was from Maury Brown, who just started Biz of Baseball. They don't even have the AT&T deal listed in their news.

So I guess the buzz over this earlier this week was all for nothing? Just adds to my thoughts of wondering why my bill was raised $5 a month in February.

Just as I have reminded people who keep wondering when Dish is going to get distants in HD, I tell you the same thing. Dish has never said getting MLB was immanent, or even being discussed other than maybe the "ongoing" negotiations answer.... Just as Dish has never said they were going to provide distants. All the buzz is by us on the forums. It's exactly why so many distrust the information on the internet. Someone or some people speculate, and it becomes something it never was.

Maybe Dish will announce tomorrow they are getting it, maybe never.....

You complain about a $5 increase, which has nothing whatsoever to do with MLB. Yet if Dish got it, don't you think the increase might have been more? Or did you think it would be free?

I guess I just don't see what the issue Dish has with this channel now that the Extra Innings/ownership in the channel requirement has been dropped. This is a channel carried by pretty much every other carrier, even many little rural cable companies.

On the face of it I agree. But we do not know that is the case. Again, you are going on us, just posting our thoughts. We connected U-verse not having to get EI, to negotiations with Dish. We have no facts saying that deal is the deal to Dish. Or what else they may want.

I don't know for certain. However, I wonder if it has to do with who owns MLB Network. According to Wikipedia, 67% of MLB Network, of course, is owned by Major League Baseball, but the minor owners include DirecTV (16.67%), Comcast (5.44%), Time Warner Cable (5.44%), and Cox Communications (5.44%). Maybe Dish should try to become a minor owner.

This is what Dish says: http://www.dishnetwork.com/packages/ppv/sports/baseball/
