Interesting if it goes thru.. 20yrs later

[ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4358260"]Sources: Pete Rose's status the same, despite report - ESPN[/ame]

The solution is so simple. Reinstate him with the condition that he never again be allowed to be a position to affect the outcome of a game. 20 years of banishment is punishment enough.

Compared to some of the negative things that have happened to MLB since his ban, what Rose was proven to have done now seems inconsequential.

Let's welcome Pete back!!

I bet he does it just to take emphasis off of steroids. What do you all think?

It won't get him into the HOF. The requirement there is that you have to get 75% of the votes by members of the media. Barry Bonds will have a better chance than Rose. This is a non issue.

I was referring to him getting reinstated not voted in.

He was the epitome of everything that is good about baseball (on the field). He wasn't fast and wasn't particularly strong and still got 4,200+ hits. Cooperstown is incomplete without him. The argument for keeping him out is that he damaged the integrity of the game. Juicers did far more damage to the integrity of the game than Pete, and MLB turned a blind eye to them.

He deserves to be in, and I think he will make it..Barry Bonds before him? Do not think so..
He won't make it. Selig can't put Rose in the HOF and probably less than half of the people who vote for the Hall support him. Neither Rose nor any of the juicers will get in any time soon. Instead guys like Greg Maddox, Tom Glavine, and Derek Jeter will get put in. It will be a cold day in hell before the likes of Rose, Bonds, Sosa or Clemens ever get in.

I hope they keep him out. Nothing tarnishes sports more than gambling........steroids included.

Gambling is bad, but steroids have destroyed an entire era of baseball. I was never much of a fan to begin with, but the events of the last several years have ensured my children will not be baseball fans.

That's because so many players were on the juice. If all the 'roiders had decided to gamble instead, the game would be damaged beyond repair IMO.

You're right, cause when you cheat on the juice, you can keep playing. Yay for the union! At least if they gambled people might take it seriously. So how many records did Pete Rose trash while doing his evil deeds?

This bad bad man bet that his team would kick the other teams ass. Damn him forever, how can he even be considered for anything good again !?!?

Steroids vs Pete Rose With all that is happening with Sosa, McGuire, Canseco, Palmiero, Bonds, Rodriguez, Ramirez, Clemens and any other that I cannot think of right now does anybody else think it would be a good time to revisit the banning of Pete Rose? I am really not a huge of Pete's but he did not bet against his team. His acheivements were earned on talent alone, not chemically induced. At least I hope that is true. I know and understand why MLB has concerns about gambling but there was never any indication that Pete's weakness hampered his play and his desire to win. I realize some of the names above have not been proven to be abusers but they have been a topic of unpleasant discussions. Substance abuse damages even those that are innocent. It makes you wonder about any muscular player. I was going to give some examples but I don't want people to start accusing them or me of doing or knowing something. I am just frustrated about what is happening to the game I love. Love to read your thoughts

Wow, when I wrote that comment back in May I had no idea Bud would take my advice. Now don't get all bent out of shape, I know he probably did not read that but I think I'll delude myself into thinking a lot of people may agree on some things. I think it is good that there is some thought about reinstatement no matter what the decision may be.
