I'd like us to do our own MLB awards.

I'm not talking about the 'MVP/Cy Young/Manager/Rookie of the Year' stuff.

I'm talking about our personal award for smaller things.

I'm going to list some awards, and you list your choices.

It does NOT have to be one from the AL and one from the NL- this counts for both leagues.

1. Who was the best player in all of baseball from start to finish?

2. What was the funniest moment of the year?

3. Best-pitched game of the season?

4. Best individual game by a hitter?

5. Most emotional story of the year?

6. Most exciting game of the year?

7. Most overblown story of the year?

8. Most underrated team of the year?

9. Most overrated team of the year?

10. Best young player?

By making the Red Sox clubhouse less caustic.

Ask Bill- he's a diehard Sox fan and he wanted him gone.

I'm a diehard sox fan and wanted him gone as well.

I don't buy too much into the clubhouse chemistry stuff, I think the '03 "Cowboy Up" team was tighter in the clubhouse than the '04 "Idiots" team were but they needed someone like Schilling to put them over the top.

Bill,

what are your choices for these personal awards of mine?

Do the Sox make the playoffs without Manny's offense in the first 3/4 of the year ?

I doubt it, hows Big Papi done since Manny, I bet NOT as well.

Jimbo

1. Yes if Papi and Lowell hadn't been injured and Pedroia/Youk/Drew/Bay produced as they did

2. He did miss a big chunk of time early in the season and I think came back shortly before Manny was traded, so the stats would be kinda skewed

Sabres,
I'm sorry, I promise I'll get back to you later with this, BUT I'm absolutely disgusted with some of the responses here!

He QUIT on his team, said team was going down the toilet the last week of July BECAUSE OF HIM, but yet you keep throwing stats at us!!!!!

Stats, schmats.

The team was struggaling in July.

They did MUCH better after they traded for Bay- he won't bash everything over the outfield wall, but he won't bash teammates, verbally and physically.

Sorry guy,
I know you all don't like him, but for the most part I do.
Any team would be happy to have his offensive support.

But then again, I like Schilling too and I doubt that you all do.

Jimbo

Jimbo,

I LOVED the guy up until this year.

I used to laugh at all the "Manny being Manny" propaganda coming from Yawkey Way. I used to defend him to anyone that knocked him (I know that's hard to believe ;)).

This year was DIFFERENT. He got physically violent with an elderly man and QUIT on the team that payed him $160 million to play a kids game.

Listen, I'm a huge believer that everyone is entitled to their opinion (a lot of my posts are prefaced with an IMO), but this issue is so black and white it's not even funny.

If you want to support or endorse a well-built man pushing around a senior citizen, a guy that quit on his team in the middle of the season's bigggest homestand (Angels,Yankees), a guy that flopped around like a fish in the outfield in Anaheim and was LAUGHING about it despite his team being humiliated............feel free. I'm out, and I don't care if the POS hits 100 HR's.

Keep the stats comin'!

This thread has taken a bad twist.

I was hoping we could avoid talking about Me Me in this- I wanted this to be a light and fun thread where we could poke fun at things that amused us this year.

I wanted to hear about the funniest moments of the year or the best individual performances.

I apologize buddy, I definitely take part of the blame, but saying Me-Me helped the Dodgers to the playoffs is one thing, but the Red Sox?????/

I kid you not when I tell you I wanted to vomit when I saw that!

I'm looking at the questions now and will post my answers shortly. :)
