MLB 2020 Baseball season

This wonderful rules change in Extra Innings has definitely quickened up the game by putting a runner on 2nd to start the inning ...
Astros and Dodgers into the 12th, so far.

Thanks Manfield

So, the change is not anywhere near as bad as you doomsayers were saying it would be, huh?

On to the 13th ... (longest game of the year, so far.)

On a side note, the Astros started the Season with 5 rookies in the bullpen.

Dodgers now lead by 2, thanks to Manford (should be 1), HR with the man on 2nd.
We'll see what happens in the bottom half shortly.

The Marlins didn't follow the MLB seperation guidelines and ended up getting the team infected. Then, when they knew there was a problem Sunday morning they asked the shortstop (???) if they should play, and he decided, via a group text, to play the Sunday game anyway thereby infecting the visiting team facilities at the Phillies stadium. I can't imagine anything more irresponsible than letting a player make a decision that could potentially affect the health of dozens of people! They deserve to have the rest of their season canceled and somebody in that organization needs to pay the piper.

After COVID-19 outbreak, the Marlins decided via group text message to play Sunday vs. the Phillies

Miami Marlins decided in a group chat to play Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies

Well I see there are now baseball players who don't know how to act in their place of employment and have started kneeling thereby infecting baseball with politics so I'm done. I'm 79 and it's been a good run. In all those years I never thought there would be a day I would walk away from football and baseball but that day has come. It's sad when games that are meant to be a form of escapism or just plain entertaiment are being twisted into a political forum by spoiled rich brats. Goodbye.

I understand your feelings. I’m about at that point as well. I may skip and start over next year when all this election year political nonsense is over.

Brewers-Cardinals game cancelled tonight because two Cards players have tested positive for COVID. I think MLB’s days are numbered here in 2020. I just don’t see how the NFL is going to make it if they don’t implement another plan. It’s bubble or bust for sports in 2020, and unfortunately probably 2021 as well.

I hear ya. Throughout the day we are beaten into submission with negative news, violence and social unrest on TV, the radio and the internet. I enthusiastically yet patiently awaited for the MLB season to start for a little distraction from the insanity. I had the rude awakening of my team, on opening day, give me the middle finger. Metaphorically speaking that is. I cancelled my MLB.TV account but they will only refund me for the days missed because of the shortened season. Oh well, fool me once, shame on me.... The good news is that I'll spend thousands of dollars less on stadium tickets, jerseys, t-shirts, hats, glassware, and other miscellaneous merchandise. Instead I'll donate that money to animal shelters and people in need. At least there is a better chance that they will appreciate it.

Curious...are there any viewer ratings out for the first few days of MLB Covidstyle?

I read somewhere that the ratings have been very good. In fact, the Astros had the largest regular season audience in their RSN’s history for their opener. I think many factors could attribute to this. Curiosity factor with empty ballparks. Netflix, CNN, Fox News, etc. fatigue. Or maybe people are just genuinely thankful that some semblance of normalcy is back.

Yes, they are. In spite what some of the negative Nancy’s around here are saying, ratings are not bad....

Red Sox shut down Eduardo Rodriguez for the season. Very wise move.....wishing EdRo a speedy recovery

Heres hoping for a full recovery ...

As Another Red Sox Starting Pitcher is out ...
Actually, he was already out at the time we were discussing the Sox pitching ... I don't think we thought he'd be done for the Season at that point.

Hopefully he gets well enough for next season.
