are the Rangers nuts? i just don't Choo as big offense guy
Not bad for a lead off type hitter. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/choosh01.shtml
Yeah, but he isn't worth it.
Not many are...
If a team is willing to pay and can afford it, as long as the player helps, then they are worth it.

It's all relative, what the team needs and what the player wants monetarily and can deliver on the field.
Not a just in case. They signed him to be the 7th inning guy replacing Belisario.I see your Dodgers signed the "Headcase" Chris Perez for your bullpen .... This must have been a Just in Case move by the Dodgers. Whats your opinion ?
That's not true at all.So far, all of the recent 7-10 year deals have worked out great for the player, not so much for their team....

Now they have 3 closers with defined roles to pitch the last 3 innings.
Perez - 7th
Wilson - 8th
Jansen - 9th

All they need to do is help out for a few of those years. That is all the teams are hoping for as well.

Why not? Three proven closers for the last three innings. How many teams wish they had that? And their all HAPPY with that idea ? At least to start the season they probably are.
By which standard?Awful lot of money to put out for a few years when you sign one for 7-10 years.
Baseball is in the best financial shape in its history. The Leagues and teams are seeing record revenue. They can afford to pay the players more than they have in the past.
I have a feeling that many of those griping about the player salaries would be complaining even more if the owners kept the money to themselves.
They would probably complain even more if revenues were down. You would hear cries of how the sport is failing and is doomed.
Here they are having the most financial success in their history with record revenues and record attendance, and the actual players (aka workers) are getting their fair share of the profits and many fans and sports writers are bitching about it (Heck, even small market teams are succeeding or spending a lot), yet they offer no better solution.

A $100,000 car is too much money for a car for myself, but not for a millionaire.
If they have the money, then it is not a lot for them.
