I agree. But, the new GM will probably want his own guy.

The Red Sox have 10 days to extend Francona. I say they keep him.
It was the most surreal night of baseball I've ever witnessed, including Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS and Game 5 of the 2004 ALCS.
Let's not forget the NL WC outcome was also up there as well. Both races ending in dramatic fashion on the same nightIt was absolutely amazing, Bill. If you had watched a movie with both games coming down to the final strike, the Rays comeback, the rain delay so that Boston was able to watch the Yankees/Rays for a while, both games ending almost within seconds of each other...jeez.
You would have made fun of the movie, because nothing like that could ever happen in real life.

Dennis Leary: "To all Red Sox fans age 33 & younger: this is what 1978 feels like. Minus the quaaludes and disco."
Lol!
And on a separate note...buh bye Mets. Jeez, you ended a distasteful season on a distasteful note.
Thank goodness only the New York varsity gets to play in October.

They got to. ALOT of what happened in Boston is of no fault of his. And like I stated earlier, considering all the injuries and the inconsistancy of his pitching...I think he did the best anyone could.
I just heard Dan Schaugnessy from the Boston Globe on Mike Francesa. He thinks Francona is gone. He shouldnt go. Hes a classy guy and he did everything he could for the team. Its just that they didnt produce.
Helluva way for Jose Reyes to potentially end his Mets career, take yourself out of the game after a bunt single in the 1st inning to preserve the batting title...
That could have been Reyes' last game in a Mets uniform. As a Mets fan, are you OK with the way his last game went down??I'll be honest, I really didnt have a problem with it. It was a meaningless game anyway. I mean the Mets and the Reds wanted to go home. If you dont believe me, the game ended in 2 hrs. and 15 mins. Look at our team. This batting title is the only thing we have to look forward too.

Yeah, Im ok with it to be honest. They got rid of K-Rod and Beltran. If they get rid of Reyes or Wright or both, it wouldnt surprise me. There was talk of breaking up the core which at the time was Wright, Reyes, Beltran and Delgado when they choked in 2007.

The only saving grace to this behavior is that contract bonuses aren't tied to personal numbers goals like this. So, at least it's only bragging rights.

Cosmo....this is not the 1st time this is done. If anyone is at fault it's the manager's decision. I mean he could have easily said,'..dude, your playing whether you want to or not...' And he chose not. It is what it is.
Oh, I know it won't be the last also. As a manager you want players who want to play. If a player decides to sit, I say he sits. The last thing you want is to put a player out there who doesn't want to play.
As Sandra said, it is typical Reyes though...
