Question #1:

I just purchased this set to find out that if you connect a DVD player to the DVI input on the TV it will NOT display the video if you are playing a copy protected DVD. Is this common to other manufactures implementation of the DVI connector on TVs?

Question #2:

I am planning to purchase the new TIVO Hughes DTV-HD unit when it is available in a few weeks. It has an HDMI connector on the back and I plan to get a HDMI to DVI cable so I can hook it up to the Mitsi using the DVI input.

Does anyone know if any of the signals being passed from the satellite receiver are copy protected? If so I may have the same problem as with the DVD.

Question #3:

Is the video the same quality if I use the separate component inputs or would using the DVI input result in superior video?
Thanks for all the help as I am very new to HDTV and all of its particulars.

What DVD player are you using?

I had a Mits ws-55515 and a samsung 931 connected via DVI. I have never had any problems with any of my 200+ dvds

#1: Its the DVD player, not the Mits.

#2: Nope. Shouldn't have that problem.

#3: There is very little difference between component video and DVI.
