Hi
New to this forum, figure I might come here for some help.
Here's my story:
Had DirectTV for years, got my Knoxville, TN locals just fine and all is good. In the mail comes an offer for a lower price,
so I call Dish. I talk to the salesperson, they tell me Knoxville TN will be my locals (zip 37874). I check it on their site,
it is Knoxville. Installer comes.
First thing is I ordered DVR service, and they sent a non dvr receiver. Not good, but I can deal with that. The installer said
that I can just call them and they will get the right receiver.
Everything is installed and I sign the contract. Tech then shows me how to operate the remote and the locals are Chattanooga.
He said that it was wrong and he would get it corrected. He calls his boss and his boss said nothing he could do about it.
I get pissed off and start calling Dish. I spoke to somebody in a corporate resolution center and they say they will correct
it in 3-4 days. Ok I can live with it.
3-4 days pass and nothing happens. I call, and left a message with the lady (I can provide number and ID if needed). Wait a day,
call again, no answer. Left another message. No callback.
Ok....so I get reading about moving your service address. Did that and it worked. For one day.........
They switch back the service address to the billing address....I call, they change it back, then it goes back again the next day.
I played that game for 4 days.
The problem I have with this is the following:
The salesperson I spoke to when ordering told me 37874=Knoxville locals
The Dish website even says 37874=Knoxville locals when you key it in
The installer who came out, only AFTER signing the contract and showing me how to use the remote said the locals are wrong.
I know 5 other people who live 1 mile from here who have Dish, and they all have Knoxville locals.
I was told that it was the "FCC" that decides what we get to watch. Probably right, but I don't buy that either because
if it were up to the FCC, then ALL PROVIDERS would have to make me watch Chattanooga. How come I can get Knoxville with
Charter or DirectTv, but not with Dish? Looks like this is CLEARLY a Dish issue.
So this seems like I was lied to, read false advertising, and was sort of tricked by the installer to sign
first then show me the locals (which was my fault, I should have asked to see them first had I known anything was wrong).
Is there anything that can be done about this?
Thanks. Great site by the way....lots of info here.
