After scanning in several sats and doing blindscans on my new receiver I got the following "warning lnb short."
Could someone explain what this means? Thanks.

Your receiver is detecting excess current draw from the LNB. Could be a short in the cabling or the LNB itself. Disconnect the cable from the receiver and start doing some checks with a multimeter to find the short.
Besides a dead short,if components you have in line exceed the current rating of the receiver this will also occur.
Remember everything in line draws a certain amount of current and it starts to add up.
