On the same line of thought, here is a very good letter written to a newspaper from Maryland's head basketball coach about how he takes the Athletes' educations seriously.

Thanks! Great article Joe, but you know the intesity of football and basketball is completely different.
All I can say is thank goodness Miami is not in my Big East anymore. Given that West Virginia and Louisville are doing well and basketball is even stronger, good riddence. Who loves you Donna? You just keep impressing the nation with your leadership and ethics.
Go UCONN (we'll get there). [Insert flames here]

That because Miami is not interested in playing football ...Last time I checked , Salsadancer, West Va. and Louisville , were in the top ten. Hmm, can"t find Miami in the top 25. Looks like football is a lot more interesting in West Va. and Louisville than in Miami.

Hmmmm....let me see.....how many national football championships do those schools COMBINED have?? Hell....YOU can go back into the 1800s and I will go back only 5 years....and Miami STILL has more national football championships then those 2 teams combined....When Miami came to the Big East, it was a NOTHING football conference....Miami's influence was SO big that the conference champion gets a BCS bowl bid....did ANY school in that conference have that kind of juice???!!! NOPE!!!
And in return, the Big East help Miami's basketball program which was invisible, very good and healthy program. So ALL of that FOOTBALL exposure that WV and Louisville is getting...has alot to do with Miami when they were in the Big East.
So I congratulate WV and Louisville for great seasons they have had....but Miami paved the way for them.:
I like juice, pretty much all flavors, except prune. Time to put this thread to bed.
Miami, FSU, and USC lost today, what a great day for college football!
(Sorry Salsa)
