Medium

It is more along the lines "I am inclined to believe you but you are not proof in court". The show has had a good run for 8 years. There is just so much that can be done with the same cast. Every episode pretty much has the same plot, it is just a matter of figuring out the "twist" they try to throw in, remember she is not always shown the truth by the spirits and can be wrong just because they show her something out of context.

At least like Numbers, Medium appears to be going out on its own terms. Better it being their choice not the networks that way the series can have a real ending. Medium was a hell of a series, while very predictable and formulaic at times, it was always interesting and I will miss it. I kinda figured this would be the end of the run for Medium, it was great getting to know the Dubois Family over the past 7 years. I’ve seen every episode of the series except the first episode. Can’t wait to see how they will wrap it all up.

As I've written before, despite Allison's special gift, this is the one show on TV that shows a "normal" family. The children aren't full of one-liners, the husband isn't a goof, the parents love each other and work outside the home as so many do. I've felt sorry for Joe too. The poor guy has to be sleep deprived! :D I did enjoy the episode where he said he couldn't take it anymore.

I haven't missed an episode during this show's run, and even with the gimmicky episodes, I still look forward to it. I'll miss it when it's not on, but I, too, have enjoyed my evenings with the DuBois family.

I stopped watching the show for a few years, but I feel this season has been its best ever. Granted, the Friday night ratings weren't stellar...but they consistently won their timeslot. Unfortunely, the show is CBS where they have a stong primetime lineup and two new strong mid-season series waiting to air. I wonder if the Criminal Minds spinoff will occupy Medium's timeslot? Sad, but interesting...

Medium was moved TOO Friday nights when CBS took over.
Was on NBC when it started.

I agree it has gotten a bit gimmicky. There is also the inevitable conversation between Allison and her boss, husband or the cop where they essentially say "Although your visions have proved to be spot on the last gazillion times, what you are saying is crazy so I'm not going to believe you". Doesn't anyone think she might have built up some credibility by solving hundreds of cases.

I still watch it weekly though, and will hate to see it go. How many shows feature an engineer at work?

Problem is, they never do anything AT Joe's work, an occasional mention, but thats about it. They would throw an episode or two in there so you knew that he actually IS working .... then NOTHING for months.

It's a shame it's leaving, seeing that others have spun off of it and been successful, Ghost Whisper for one ... thats one I never watched because what I had seen about it looked to much like it and I didn't want to be watching another show very similar although I have done that before with some other shows.

Friday is the kiss of death for series with mideocre ratings. I will miss this show when it goes away in January.

I agree, Medium, Numb3rs, possibly CSI NY seeing it's on Fridays, I hope not, but it's been rumored.

I watched all of these and while they all have had a good run, they were all good shows in thier own right.

I agree, Joe getting a full nights sleep would probably be good, however, what about Allison, she REALLY needs a full night sleep, without the gore.

Of course there was the time when Allison thought the world was going to end when she did NOT have dreams for awhile.

Come to think about it, they probably have many sleep filled nights, the shows only on one night a week, maybe she too only has one night a week that she can't sleep ?

I agree about nothing this season, but some major plot lines in seasons past that were pretty accurate. The hostage thing. The whole startup storyline. The boss having a meltdown. I've seen or done them all (well, I've never been held hostage, but the rest)

Ghost Whisperer was like Medium meets Touched By An Angel. The show was pretty good until the final season. It was another predictable and formulaic series, even more so then Medium. It jumped the shark with the final season and deserved to be canceled. Actually the second to the last season was the downfall of the show and the final season was just plain retarded with the ‘shiny and shadow’ nonsense. And pretty stupid how at the season finale you have no kid and then in the following seasons series premier you have a 5 year old and no other member of the cast has aged nor does anything else seem to indicate it is really 5 years later. Medium is/was a much better overall series then Ghost Whisperer, and much more complete to.

Yeah, I kinda stopped watching it completely once she gave birth to a 5-year old. Even Jennifer Love Hewitt wearing toob tops and pushup bras couldn't make me watch the suckfest it turned into...

Oh yes the booby tops made the show half interesting. That's how the show got the nickname the Boob whisperer.:D:up

Not too much. The storyline of the Mexican drug lord was OK, but the rest was predictable, sappy, and left a lot of unanswered questions.

Did the kids retain psychic abilities into adulthood? Did Allison actually get the law degree? Did she stop doing the psychic investigations after Joe's death? On and on.
