I agree osu

right now its 94 with heat index of 106 so no way I'm doing the reinstall. I can go a couple days without FTA ;)
(suppose to be way better on Thursday)

Almost the exact forecast for New Orleans... Dangerous heat until Thursday. Yesterday, we had a temperature of 102 (actual) with a heat index of 112. No full moon either, so working at night is trickier, and its not really that much cooler...

This reminds me of a poll posted (I think) early last Winter... Would you rather work on your dishes in the heat or in the cold? Give me the cold any day :) ...

I had a poll like that too a while back and folks thought I was nuts that I'd rather work in 40 degree temps than 85-90 :)

yep
My theory when warm is "you can only take off so many clothes before it becomes illegal.....and you're still warm" ;)

I might do the motorized install today as my buddy will be in town to help. The one has braces on the mast so that wont be hard. But the other one doesnt and I need help holding those and bolting it down....unless I undo the mast from the foot then put the mast back up after bolting down the foot

well the original 30" is back up now :)

other than bumping the motor west (back near 0 on the motor) on some sats everything works fine :)

nah its all in the same location pretty much. All I have to do is bolt down the cable from the antenna on the roof....right now its just "there"

Did you replace the corroded hardware (nuts, bolts, etc.)? I find that spraying some clear paint on the bolts keeps them from corroding, even in this sub-tropical Southeastern Louisiana climate...

nope. When I took down the dishes I literally took the whole thing down at once. SO when I put the 30" back up it was put dish up, put bolt in foot, level it, put rest of bolts in and check for 0 on the mast

went inside and and just had to nudge the motor west on all sats but everything works fine

The 36" took a little longer but that one worked too....I havent tried it fully but that one I took the receiver and TV up to lock the signal.

On the 30" the bolts and nuts are aftermarket so they havent rusted....the ones on the 36" are all rusted to hell

well we can close the book on this one as the neighbor resigned from the board tonight as she is going back to school (law school of all things)

I asked her tonight during the meeting if she happened to read OTARD and she was like "yeah" and I said "so what I'm doing is fine?"....no answer :D (obviously I am in the right)

Even better they say I'm doing a "good job on the board" and kept me as president for another 2 years which is funny as I thought they would kick me out as I have had more "NO" votes on the board the last two years than they had in the last 6 years :)

jack boots ?

I don't know exactly what means, . . .
Sounds like you're being a pain . . .
But, apparently they LIKE it! --

Anole lifts a pint in cheer,
for two more continued year! - :D

Just think, maybe you inspired her to go to law school by throwing OTARD at her! :D

She obviously needs the education...

Anole
Most of the board for years were like sheep. One person says "lets do this" and the other 4 were like "oh yes lets do that." and that was it.

When they put me on the board that started changing. Some of the ideas they had were really dumb so changes were made and no votes started popping up :)

Either that or nobody else wants the job :p

nah she decided this spring ;)
This came up last month

She obviously needs the education...
well it was her husband and the board at the time who came up with the "one dish only" rule (which was really frickin smart as at the time Minneapolis needed two dishes with Dish Network to get all the locals)...I never wanted to bring up that rule because the rest of them would have no clue what I was talking about so we just left it. Anybody who has questions on it calls me and I set it straight...as with Dish if folks want International channels they put up two dishes

had to bring this one back up.....its funny that on the board we have 2 "enthusiasts" (geeks) when it comes to stuff (out of 5 folks). I was out working with the 6 footer and the "new guy" on the board came to pay his dues and saw the dish. We chit chatted and he is a ham operator and wanted to put a ham antenna on the roof. I thought OTARD covered it and he knew of OTARD. I told him it couldn't be no higher than 12 feet above the roof line and he had no issues.

Last month I wasnt at the meeting (out of town) and he asked to put up a smaller ham antenna on the roof (he has 2 mag mount one now) and the board approved it as long as he didnt go 12 feet above the roof line. I read OTARD and ham antennas arent covered under it...whoops :) But it was approved so the board cant argue. They cant argue my dish farm either now as I have approval to put whatever I want on the deck (that rule was already fine) or in front of my garage using the "you can park a car one deep in front of the garage" rule :)

Ham antennas are sometimes considered covered under FEMA (Dept. Emergency Services) County DEMs and most recently under Homeland Security. One community tried to ban ham radio operations, the slick hams got all VHF and UHF into the lawsuit against them and when the community found out police and fire were outlawed, they cancelled the whole lawsuit! However, it was a police repeater, corroded tower, that was interfering! ----Problem located and repaired by the hams in RACES!

Thats different if its FEMA. But OTARD clearly states Ham, CB, Radio antennas are not covered under it
