Manual recording has wrong aspect ratio

I wanted to record only the fireworks on channel 04-00 from Columbus, Ohio on my Hopper with Sling receiver. The PrimeTime Anytime recorded Red White & Boom from 8 PM to 11 PM. That recording is 3 hours long and displays as 16x9 High Def.

Since I wanted to save only the fireworks portion, I set up a manual timer to record 004-00 WCMH from 9:59 PM to 10:35 PM. Thus I was recording the same channel that PTAT was recording. The manual recording has a 4x3 aspect ratio with black bars on both sides while the PTAT recording is 16x9 aspect ratio. Why did this happen?

I just figured it out. I recorded the SD channel 04-00 instead of the HD channel 04-00. My guide normally hides the SD channels but the manual timer displays all of the channels. Thus I picked the SD version instead of the HD version. That was my mistake.
