Manny AND Big Papi tested positive for Performing Enhancing Drugs in 2003!!!!

Greenwell did chewing tobacco!!

I'm just saying that every time we give kudos to Canseco for identifying a cheather, fairness warrants that we point out that in his time, he was among the most obvious beneficiaries of chemical performance enhancement, but he hasn't given back anything that he shouldn't have won.

On the contrary, not giving him kudos as much as people thought when he made his announcement that over 25% were on PEDS, people that he was on crack too!

Anders had the PERFECT analogy, using MAFIA reference...just because he was a low life scumbag, does not mean he is ALWAYS lying....;)

the union should have destroyed the list while they had the chance.now they must be kicking themselves in the ass for not doing so. i agree with what's been mentioned already. let all the names out and get this thing over with. this trickling or leaking of names is only prolonging the issue. get it all out there and be done with it.

LMAO! To bad your off.....from day one he stated that ALOT more than people think were on PED...including alot of big names that HE mentioned and everyone thought he was crazy....well guess what...he wasn't so crazy after all.

Sometimes, you gotta give the devil his due...unfortunately, alot of you refuse to do it because of your biases....it is what it is, gotta accept it and deal with it.

The thing that surprised me and made me sick to my stomach was that Papi was so outspoken about this subject during Spring Training.....

"I said it a long time ago. I said if you want to get this stuff out of the game, don't do random tests -- test every player. Don't come in once and test two or three guys. Test everybody, in season and out of season. And if you still use and you get caught, then you should be suspended for the whole year. I said that a long time ago, and nobody listened.

"I know what it is for my son to have Big Papi as a father. There are a lot of people who do great things for him because he's my son. His life is going to be easier because he's the son of Big Papi."

"And that is the biggest reason why I have never used steroids. Because then he would have to go to school and have to listen to all the kids say that his dad is dirty, a cheater, and everything for him would be taken away from him and he would be ruined. I make sure I don't do those things, for him."

Wow. This is truly sad. You just can't trust anyone anymore. He even used his own son to build up a defense on why he "never did steroids". :(

The only other name left in the game that would bring the final blow to an already fragile baseball world would be Albert Pujols......

Not suprised at all. Nearly all of them will deny it until they are caught, some even then.

So I think either ban them all when they test pos., or let everyone do it and forget it.

Canseco is not lying. Why would he lie? It's not like he's Pete Rose or anything.

Canseco ratted out his entire industry to sell books and make money. Hopefully for his sake the Mafia references stop right there...rats are not treated well in their world. ;)

Oh please!! You bitch about the cheaters and now your bitching about who has been the most upfront about it?!!

Here is a news flash for you....people write books to....you ready? Sitting down for this?? ...People write books to make money!! NO ONE writes books for "artistic purposes"....

I mean you are just like everyone else.....you are the kind of person that HATE dirty cops, but hates the person the spilled the beans on the dirty cops because they didn't follow some kind of ethlical code....

...as the old saying goes, you want steak, but hates the way the cow was killed...

Not sure why you felt a tirade was necessary here...oh yes, now I remember why.

Just to use a little accuracy, however, I did not 'bitch' in my post about anyone or anything. You did not need to say that.

You made the Mafia reference in a prior post. I said I hope the Mafia references stop right there, because in their world a Canseco is not treated kindly. That's it.

Your response to what I posted accuses me of things I didn't say, then goes on to accuse me of a lot more than that. It is totally out of line.

Why would the NEW YORK times release this now and it only be 2 players from that at the time played for the BOSTON red sox. Very fishy if you ask me, why not just release the whole list?

I find this interesting also. Surely you don't think it is because a NY Yankee or two was outed having a positive test and this is a NY fan with some payback?

Could be I suppose, but just because someone works in NY doesn't make them a Yankee fan, or even a sports fan for that matter. This is news, so it was reported. It might be the only names that were known. After all, if ARod was outed during the off season, why not BP and Manny?

Ok, let me be a tad more tackful. Sorry....

You have this issues with steroids users in baseball....I understand that, alot of folks do. But why have an issue with HOW the steroid users were caught? You wanted to know WHO they were....you found out...and now there is an issue with HOW you got this information?

Add Bronson Arroyo to that list....

...This is almost getting comical!

Arroyo: Andro was rumored

By ESPN.com news services
ESPN.com news services

Bronson Arroyo, a former Boston Red Sox teammate of Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz, said he would not be surprised to find his name on a list of 104 ballplayers who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, as he had heard a then-legal supplement he was using was tainted with steroids, the Boston Herald reported.

Arroyo, according to the report, said he does not know if Ortiz and Ramirez, who were identified in a New York Times story as also being among the 104 players testing positive in 2003, were taking anything -- or if so, what it was. He said his knowledge of what his teammates did ended at the clubhouse door. But he does not believe that their accomplishments should be diminished as a result.

"In my mind, I think you have to lump the whole era together," Arroyo said, according to the report. "A lot of people were doing it, a lot weren't. I think pitchers probably gained three or four mph on their pitches and power hitters got some more power.

"But guys like David and Manny, if they did something, it didn't make them who they were. Did it make them a little better? Probably," Arroyo said, according to the report.

I have no issue with how we got this information. I just commented on what would happen to Canseco in the mafia world. That's it.

And I only said that because you referenced the mafia.

This is the MAFIA reference I used from Anders:

He really is. I belived him all along even though he does have a shady background of his own. It's like Sammy the Bull ratting out John Gotti. Sure he was a thug too but you knew he was telling the truth. Has Canseco fingered anyone who didn't turn out to be guilty?

They know all the names on the list, if they released all of them the story would die out in a few weeks or a month. Releasing only a few at a time keeps the story active whenever it seems to be dying out. Outing Bronson Aroyo doesn't get the reporters name up in lights Ortiz, Manny and Arods names do.

Interesting that Nomar Garciaparra said that some refused to take the test in 2003 and told the tester to just put them down as positive. Why? To get the percentage high so they would start testing for steroids. Don't know what to think about that statement

VERY interesting comments from Bronson Arroyo article that I posted:

"Before 2004, none of us paid any attention to anything we took," he said, according to the Herald. "Now they don't want us to take anything unless it's approved. But back then, who knows what was in stuff? The FDA wasn't regulating stuff, not unless it was killing people or people were dying from it."

Arroyo said he started taking taking andro after 1998, after a season with the Pirates' Double-A affiliate. "Andro made me feel great, I felt like a monster. I felt like I could jump and hit my head on the basketball rim," he said, according to the report.

Arroyo said he is happy the game now has mandatory drug testing, according to the Herald.

"I feel like the game's getting cleared up," he said, according to the report. "Personally, I don't care what people think about what I did. I do what I do."
