Magic Red Button on R15

Why is it that the solution for any problem with the R15 seems to be the red reset button behind the card door? When I finally got around to attaching my second line in, I had to reset the button to recognize the line and get signal strength (though nowhere in the "manual" did it say so). What else will the reset button do? Will it download the new software automatically (when available) or do I need to reset?

This is what Dish Network needs on its MPEG-4 receivers.

It is simply a reset button, easier than unplugging. Software should download itself though as there have not been andy updates since the initial one were not sure. Should find out real soon though.
