Lost with 2 issues

Hi,
I am so glad to find you guys out here!
Ok, I have two issues.

1. In my home we have a DVR 625 that was installed correctly, but was since disconnected to install hardwood floors. This dual tuner unit runs both the living room and bedroom tvs. I have reconnected in several configurations, but can only get signal to the living room set. I don't know what model dish we have.

2.We just purchased a 5th wheel camper that is factory wired with seperate cable and satellite coax connections on the outside that run to the 2 tvs inside (Bedroom and living room). We purchased a dish 500 with a dual lnbf and tripod kit for the camper and need to call Dish to ship us out receiver(s).
My question is whether I need 2 single receivers, or if I can get 1 dual receiver, and whether I can run 1 line in from a dual LNB then split it for both tv's, or if the "cable in" could be used as a second input?
I know this probably depends on how the camper is wired, and I'm assuming the inputs on the outside feed both tv's simultaneously.

I'm a pretty tech savvy guy but know notta about satellite equipment.
Some layout diagrams would be a MAJOR help.
 
1. How many wires do you have comming out of the floor?

2. It is probably not wired to work correctly for Dish. Every RV I have run into has the cables run into a funky combiner of some sort that will not work. You will probably have to run cables into the RV anyway. Unless they have changed something in the latest models.
 
In the house we have one wire coming in and one going back out, which I assume runs to the bedroom
 
TV2 setup

I'm an Installations Manager for a DISH RSP. TV2 line behind the receiver needs to be connected to the "Home Distribution" port, it's the yellow one. If you haven't changed the channel on the TV2 then everything should work correctly.
 
From floor come up to the diplexer on the side of it where there's only one port. On the other side of the diplexer is two ports. Connect the one that says UHF/VHF to the Home Distribution port on back of the receiver (sometimes labeled 21-69 OUT). Connect the SAT side of the diplexer to the DP Separator on the side of the separator that only has one barrel. Connect separator to the two SAT IN ports.

For the RV, you typically have one wire coming from the roof dish and one from the PARK CABLE hookup. Those usually converge by the front TV and run into or adjacent to a switch box mounted near the front TV. Your easiest setup is to use the dish cable from the roof as it is often grey RG6 instead of black RG59 like the rest of the wiring. Connect that grey cable to a dual-tuner receiver. Run a line from the receiver to one of the inputs on the back of the switchbox and then run a second wire from the Home Distribution port of the receiver to a second input on the switchbox. The switch box will then determine for each TV which source you are going to view. Those switchboxes usually have an ANT IN, CABLE IN, VCR IN, and an AUX IN. Pick any two of those IN ports.

I don't have a standard satellite that came with the RV though, I have a 500 with a dual LNBF. Do I combine the two outputs from the dish LNB to run into the single satellite input on the trailer then use a diplexer to split it back out at the tv's? I'm not sure if thats even what a diplexer does?

Diplexers are for combining off-air and satellite onto same wire. Get you a dual tuner and as long as you have a 500 with a DP Plus Twin, you'll only need one wire from the outside.
 
What vegas said, plus, just take the DVR625 with you when you go camping, why pay for another box when you don't need to.
 
The two outputs on the Dual are designed to work with a switch.... this is how we use to install 2 receivers with 2 orbital locations.... we would run 1 line from each dual (mounted on a Y bracket on a Dish 500) into a 21 switch.... and another line from each dual to another 21 Switch.... the 21 Switch combined both Satellite signals onto one cable, to feed a single receiver.

In your case, with just a Dual like you have, you will have to move your Dish depending on which channels you want to watch.... most likely you will stay mostly on the 119 Satellite.... in which case you only need 1 line... unless you're going to do a dual tuner.... no switch is neccessary...

If this is a Legacy Dual, you can not Diplex. If it is a DP Dual, you can diplex one of the lines to feed another TV.... however in an RV, this is usually not neccessary since you can usually just run another cable to the second TV location from the back of the receiver.

Why can't you diplex on a legacy dual?

I think you're using the wrong terminology altogether. Diplexing is the practice of placing the <950mhz band on the same wire as a >950mhz band. This allows OTA to run down the same wire as satellite. I think what you are thinking of is the simple splitting of a satellite signal. While this can be done on stacked lines or single polarity only lines (think Primestar), it can't be done on polarity switched lines.

No, I'm talking about diplexing for a dual tuner... not an OTA antenna.
