Ok, here's what I got:
pansat 1000
33 inch fta

this is the 3rd time that I've setup RTPi-AMC4, there is nothing in the way of the dish, it's a new subdivision. I get about 70% signal quality, and all of sudden I get a lost signal, the weather is fine, no wind or cloud cover.

what the heck is going on????
on certain days it works other days it doesn't. the cable is good with no problems!!

any suggestions??

Do any other channels work when you lose that one? IS it at the same time every day, as in 'solar outage'? How long does it stay off when you lose it?
Does rebooting receiver fix it? Intermittent problems require good detective work, look for all clues.

i've tried resetting the receiver, still the same.
This is sporatic, it doesn't happen every day.

it happens once in a while. the receiver i'm currently using is a pansat 1000 (over 10 years old).

my mother is using the same dish as I am, 33 inch with a fortec receiver, and hers never loses signal.

is it my receiver??

If its 10yrs old I would say Yes, it could be the receiver. May have some parts failing due to age, heat inside the box, etc. If both rec work off same dish I wouldn't suspect bad cable connectors at first, but it might be worth checking also.

I'm pretty certain it's not the cable connectors, they're brand new installed them myself.

It might be the receiver!?

anyone else have this receiver??

I am reading the "same" dish meaning, to me, one dish, two receivers, if this is the case and the other receiver gets the same channel when the suspect is dropping out, the cables between them and the old receiver are the "usual suspects". Are you using the if feed through or a spliter (dc block/pass)? Someone else may have a comment, but on some receivers, in pass through, you need a dc block to keep a "crowbar shutdown" from kicking in and removing receiver power. (My experience was on BIG dishes and rack mounted receivers (Old Tranburgs, Gates and Collins). HTH

You might want to try with the adjacent frequencies for the TP that has the problem.
E.g. try 11723V or 11729V for the current 11726V

Could be that the LNBF is drifting off frequency during the heat or cooling of the day. Satellite receivers have a Automatic Fine Tuning circuit that will make up for some drifting of a LNB, but if the frequency drifts too far, the receiver will not be able to lock onto the signal.

Try shifting the LNB LO frequency of the receiver up or down 2-5MHz (10752, 10748, etc.) and see if the channel will reappear.

It may be time to replace the LNBF.
