losing channels with 2.01?

I've been wrestling with a problem of loss of local channels since last night, and at first I thought it might be a switch or other hardware problem, but after talking to others in similar situations on various forums, I'm not so sure.

Basically, I'm not recieving the 105 satellite signal which is where my locals are. In another site's Dish forum there is some speculation that this loss and the loss of various other channels could somehow be related to the 2.01 software update.

This happened to me previously a short time after I got 2.01, but a reset cleared it up. This time, neither reset nor check switch is correcting the problem.

Is anyone else experiencing loss of local channels or any other channels? Anyone been able to correct it?

When I first got my 522 a few weeks ago I had 1.96 on it and I didn't have more than 2 hours or so of local channel data. The next day when I got home it had resolved itself. I'm not sure if it was the update to 2.01 that fixed it or not. Have you tried calling Dish Network?

yes when i took the software upgrade 2.01, i also lost my local channels on the 105 sat, nothing would help, except dish sent a service tech and he re-aimed the dish and this was the only thing that brought them back, i dont know why i lost them, because before i took the upgrade they came in fine.

I think this is a different issue. I'm not recieving 105 at all apparently, and the channel slots have completely dissappeared from the guide (nor can I switch to them manually). No trace of them existing at all.

If nothing works out tonight, I suppose I will have to call.

I had a situation on Saturday and Sunday when waking up early (5:00 AM) to watch some F1 racing on SPEED channel... I about had a heart-attack when it told me that I don't have this channel.. I tried a reboot which didn't correct the situation.. I called tech support which suggested that I do a reboot.. I explained that I already had. He asked me to do it again and it seemed to work...

The next day, the same thing happened, except for a single reboot fixed it. It seems that when I wake up < 5:00 (PST) this happens and after that there are no problems...

Hmmm....

I think that L2.02, which someone posted over at DBSTalk that it's on the way, will fix this.

I was sure hoping, but I've got 202 this morning and even after a couple resets and check switches I've still got the problem.

As for me, this morning my locals were coming in just fine, in spite of the signal never topping 50. I could also see other odd transponders (see http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=23512). However, I checked and still had 2.01. Got home from work, and now I do have 2.02 and the locals are still strong. So I guess this looks promising, for me at least.

Glad to see the problem resolved for somebody, anyway. Do you think it was anything you did, or did it just sort of mysteriously come back?

I'm curious if there's a common theme among those of us who have had the problem. I'm a pretty heavy recorder for one thing - always have tons of shows saved. Hmm. Now that I think of it, I might have been recording on both tuners when I first lost the locals.

Anyway, I got a tech coming out Monday morning. Hope to get things resolved in time for Olympic basketball that day, it's one of the big reasons I switched to Dish.
