First an aside : when lining up an E* on 119 & 110 IF, the elevation is TOO high , then ONLY 110 will come on line. Which also means the antenna needs to be lowered and moved over to the right. Then 119 will be found and 110 will shadow in.

So, with Glorystar : AMC4 is working but G25 only show the channel where G19 has been moved.

Customer called and over the weekend G25 simply drop off .

Suspecting elevation is off.

Thoughts anyone ?

tks;
John

Trouble shooting ideas:

  • Make sure the Skew angle is properly set on the dual LNBF clamp (not the individual LNBFs).
  • Check all fittings and the integrity of the dish mounting and AZ/EL clamp and screws are tight and secure.
  • Were the tripod support legs installed and securing the mast?

  1. Master Power OFF or unplug the receiver.
  2. Remove the switch and barrel through the jumper to direct connect to LNBF #1 (standing in front of the dish, on right side)
  3. Power On the receiver and place on 3ABN. Is the channel coming in? What Quality? If LNBF #1 gives Good Quality on 3ABN, LNBF is good and dish is approximately aimed. No 3ABN? Jumper may be bad. Bypass jumper and retest.
  4. Move cable over and barrel through the jumper to LNBF #2 (standing in front of the dish, on left side)
  5. Place receiver on Daystar. Is the channel coming in? What Quality? If LNBF #2 gives Good Quality on Daystar, LNBF is good and dish is approximately aimed. No Daystar? Jumper may be bad. Bypass jumper and retest. If both satellites are coming in, proceed to step 6. One satellite is not coming in? Swap the LNBFs with the other in the clamp and retest. This will eliminate a possible faulty LNBF.
  6. Master Power OFF or unplug the receiver.
  7. Insert the Switch correctly.
  8. Power ON the receiver. Does 3ABN still come in? Port # 1 on switch is good. No 3ABN? Switch maybe blown by water infiltration, power surge or improper insertion / removal of connections with receiver power on.
  9. Does Daystar still come in? Port #2 on switch is good. No Daystar? Perform a Master Reset on the Receiver and reactivate. Check for faulty fittings, moisture in coax, failed diplexer, in-line amplifier, or splitter. Switch maybe blown by water infiltration, power surge or improper insertion / removal of connections with receiver power on.
TIPS:

  • If you have a meter that indicates 22KHz presence, insert at the switch position and have someone change between a Galaxy 19 (G25) and AMC4 channels. Verify the presence of a 22KHz solid (or fluctuating if DiSEqC) indicator after the switch is made with the receiver.
  • If reaiming the dish, start with the faces of both LNBFs parallel and slid 3/4" towards the reflector away from the dual clamp. Align the centering line of the LNBF with the arrows on the top of the dual clamp.
  • Optimize the Signal Quality Levels before sliding the LNBFs towards or away from the reflector or individually adjusting the LNBF skew.
  • A Sat Buddy, BirDog or equilvilant signal identification meter programmed with the KU satellites AMC4 and Galaxy 19 (old Galaxy 25) will speed up the testing and aiming process. If using a BirDog, set the BER setting to LOG for a greater sensitivity.
  • Low Signal Quality can also result in no signal when inserting a switch.
  • Take a spare DiSEqC or 22KHz switch on the service call.
  • Place a small amount of dielectric silcone inside each fitting to help make the connection water resistant.
  • Do not use crimped fittings.
  • Do not staple the coax cable.
  • Ground the system according to NEC and local code.

TKS, for all the outlined steps !

Will go back on Wednesday and go forward once again.

Still have the book which I, printed off the first time and wrote down those settings you gave me : .75 inch inset, Plus 4 degrees offset.

When calling into Glorystar , she always says it is important to adjust both in the insert and the rotation of the Lnbf's , This goes against the .75 inset you gave me before. Do you agree with her or no ?

Once both satellites are found and peaked with the LNBFs in the 3/4" forward position, then you can individually adjust each LNBF to peak the Signal Quality.

If you start peaking the individual LNBFs before optimizing both with the dish aiming and the bracket skew, then each adjustment of the individual LNBF could offset the other and decrease the overall quality as the LNBFs start working against each other!

TKS !

Followed the instructions (see above) you provided and got both satellites. Got the strongest signal ever on G 25.

Then the next day both satellites dropped out. When back and discovered that Amc4 would come in, but G 25 would only come in if the azimuth was rotated about 1/8 to 1/4 inch back to the East. Orignially has clearly marked setting on initial installation for azimuth which collected Amc4 & G 25. When in that positon only Amc4 locks on Super Buddy. Rotate it to the East as noted and G 25 locks.

Could not get both satellites to lock at the same time.

Any ideas why one day it worked well and the next it didn't ?

And, what gives with only seeing one bird at a time ? Suspect some kid may have made a swing out of it, who knows ! ?

Nonetheless, thougths on the rotation one way or the other, for getting Amc4 or G 25 ?

Very odd situation..... Was the dish was damaged in shipment? The dish may be popping back to the distorted damaged shape? Was the dish checked for warping before and after it has been installed?

Two issues could be responsible for the two satellite signals not to converge correctly:

1. Perform a string test to determine that the dish is not clam shelled.

2. LNBFs may be mounted incorrectly and slid too far away from the reflector in the dual bracket. Sliding the LNBFs forward tightens the beam, sliding away from the reflector, widens the beam.

If the dish has been damaged or warped and cannot be corrected, contact us for a replacement.

Will unpdate once weather clears up. Much ice and snow !

Will do the string check then .

What Secular stations are You getting?

G25 vs G19
