My uncle just signed up with dish and he got the vip 722k receiver and his locals are not showing the SD version of the local channel only the HD version of it,anybody know why it's doing this because i get the same locals and i have the vip 722 and mine shows both SD AND HD.

If he has the 1000.4 dish (eastern arc) he will get only the hd locals

If Dish doesnt carry the station in HD they will have it in SD on Eastern Arc

Here in Minneapolis that is how it is...Big 4 in HD...rest in SD

I have my sd locals not showing on purpose, maybe his setting is the same.

I know the Syracuse SD locals are not carried on the 1000.4. A lot of people get mad when they don't get CBS and others because they are not in hd and not on the EA. So foolishly I assumed all DMA were that way. My bad

We both have a dish 1000 plus 129/119/110 not the eastern arc.

Go into MENU
then LOCALS
then CHAN DISPLAY
then look on the left side of that last screen you will see hd priority , sd and hd display, etc..

if you are expecting pittsburgh locals, then they are on 118 I believe

just checked dishuser.org...

HD on 118 and 129
SD on 110

You should be able to see the SD on 110 unless as suggested earlier, settings on the recvr are preventing them.

Have you tried the 4 digit direct channel ?

ex. KDKA (ch 2) --> 6478

etc, etc
