I live in chicago and from a previous post you know that I can not get the 119 satellite.

My question is will I keep getting my locals?? Chicago locals are on the 101 and you only need a regular dish. I am fine now not having the 119 bc I do not lose many channels.

Are there any plans to move locals or other channels to the 119?

I visit several satellite forums every day and I haven't seen anything about moving the Chicago stations to 119.
It's true that some of the markets are being moved from 101 to 119, but those are generally the smaller markets.
So, I think you're safe. Hard telling what will happen, though, if Directv ever gets into HD locals.

Just curious why you think,or where you read that Chicago locals would be moved off 101?? That would require the MAJORITY of Chicago subscribers to be forced to a different dish from the common 18" on 101 wouldnt it?? Also if that occured, I believe Direct TV would be obligated to provide and install the new hardware to all current subscribers who needed , at no charge per the rules of the game for the providers regarding locals. So I doubt any move is coming. I believe the recently added smaller local markets, such as Madison Wisc. are on some other sat than 101,but I don't think Chicago will be going anywhere.

Chicago isn't going anywhere. DirecTV has finished moving the locals that were on national beams at 101 to the spot-beam satellite at 119. No more are moving.

46 markets at 101. 45 on spot-beams. Harrisburg on CONUS.

60 markets at 119.

Total: 106 markets.

24 more markets in September and October from 72.5.

thanks

Thanks because I am so worried about not getting the 119. I am fine now but am worried about the future.

I guess I am DBS obsessed and going nuts over this whole 119 issue!

Just curious, whats on 119 that Chicago now benefits from other than foreign language? I am in Chi also, with just an 18",but only have non HD TC+locals. Soon to go to DVR w/Tivo. I know there is a whole bigger world out there. Is there a link somewhere to a complete Direct TV channel chart showing what channels/programing come from what sats?
