Local Hd question

Hello,

I was just wondering i get my local hd channels out of knoxville Tn. I was wondering why some shows say they are in hd ex. The Insider, entertainment tonight but have the grey or black bars on the side. The info says they are hd and so does the show. Just wondering

Two possibilities:
1) the program is available in HD and the station, for some reason, cannot rebroadcast in HD (i.e. the program is on a delayed broadcast from the feed and the local station cannot record in HD for rebroadcast yet--this happens a lot as stations struggle to buy the expensive equipment)

2) A mistake in the listings.

BTW remember that HD does not equal 16x9. Most HD programming is 16x9 but there are plenty of high definition movies and other programs that are true high definition but 4x3.
