Living with a metal roof

If I put the indoor antenna closer to the ceiling will the reception get worse? Seems half way at the window seems to work better but I'm.curious. don't want to move anything without some info because it took me.awhile to find decent reception. I live approx 35 miles from the towers. Thanks. Most stations that don't come in are uhf. I get hi vhf ok

Sounds like something that easily tried. Don't think there's anyone able to tell you your answer with certainty. Everyone's 'instance' will be unique.

Maybe they're in a different direction? Or the antenna is a VHF model (No UHF)? Or the tin roof is causing multipath distortion???

I know Andy has posted his tvfool before and UHF was real bad there unless he had an outside antenna

Vhf was much better. which might be why now all of his big four networks are on VHF

That's right, Ice, uhf is bad. What's left on uhf is CW THISTV, and MYNETWORK. That's probably why they moved FOX to 9.2

The best thing to do is to get a 16 ft 6x6 wood pole Cement it in. Use a Dish mount near the top and install your antenna. I have done a few of these and it works great

Maybe try connecting a lead to the metal roof itself and use the roof as a antenna? Impedance wouldn't be right, but being only 35 m from the towers, it may work.

Agreed you would be surprised at what you can receive hooking to a metal roof....assuming it is not grounded.
