I have a customer owned modem with Charter, and nobody has told ME I have to get rid of it... So it beats me what you are talking about.

If they raise my 30 meg package price higher than the $34.99 a month I'm paying now, I'll simply cancel and go another way. It's just not worth more than that price to me.

Weird. Down here in Louisiana, they wouldn't lease my sister a modem, she had to BUY one.
I just got the new Cisco about 6 months ago for my 30meg service from them, and its included in my 44.99 price. But she had to buy the Cisco off Amazon, they provisioned it and it works fine.
Seems with Charter one hand doesn't know what the other one is doing. I hope this new guy doesn't cock things up too much, down here, its Charter 30 mbit or AT&T 1.5 Mbit DSL :-(
Could we soon see a reformation of TCI?
Starting to look like it!
