Legacy LNB's ?

Legacy LNB's with VIP612 receiver.

How are they connected? It seems you may be trying to split one signal to both tuners, which cannot be done. I would think you should have 3 lnb's connected to the sw31 with the sw21 added to give you the fourth line, this goes to one input, a second coax would need to be done the same as this for the second 612 input.

i'm not trying to use both tuner options.

like I sated, i have a 18' dish with 110 & 119 and a 36"dish with 118. All legacy LNB's. that's a total of 3 signals. Now, when i connect them to a sw21/sw21x or a sw31, and perform a check switch, only 110 and 119 show up. sometime 118 and 110 will show up. Can't get all 3 to show up.

Is it that Dish pro receivers don't like legacy equipment (switches & LNB's)? when in dish pointing settings, I can see all 3 signals.

any idea?

It is recommended connection for both tuners for the receiver to work properly. You should also note that 118 takes a different type of lnb. If all are the same type, it would explain why you are not getting 118. The easiest solution would be to switch to Dish Pro and use the combination lnb for 119/118.

i really appreciate you trying to help, but your clearly not reading what I'm saying. i'm aware of what 118's lnb's are. i've been around this stuff for many years.

my 118 lnb is the type of fta lnb that picks up both 118 & 119, but that does not do the same for dish boxes. so since it was only picking up 118, i had to set up 119 on it's own along with 110.

now that the receiver has tuner 1 and tuner 2 is made to watch and record things simultaneously. I'm just using one of them right now because a DP seporator won't work with legacy equipment.

so like i said, the switch is not bringing in all 3 signals when a check switch is performed. only brings in 2.

Legacy LNBs and switchs are suppose to work with your receiver. I'm most suspicious of the non Dish switch gear. If I were you, I'd get a genuine Dish SW64 with two cables going to the 612, or else replace the legacy LNBs with the new DishPro Plus LNB that gets all three sats, and has two DishPro Plus outputs. In the latter case, you would only need one cable to the 612.

N.B. This is my opinion having not used legacy equipment in a long time, and a SW64 never. ;)

It is possible the lnb you are using for 118 is not usable with Dish equipment, some FTA does work well with legacy, but not all of them. If you are getting 110 and 119, changing out the legacy equipment and using a Dish500+ and the lnb's that comes with it should solve your problem, what ever it may be. You will also save yourself problems in the future by trying to only use one tuner of a dual tuner receiver (it may work for a while, but you are opening your self up to problems with the receiver by not connecting both tuners.

I hear what your saying. If I'm going to spend money on a sw64, I might as well get a dish 500+.

Is there even a 118 dp LNB?

I'm aware, I would like that to be my last resort.

IIRC the old 500+ came with combined DP LNBs for 118/119 and a second separate DP dual for 110. This required an outboard DPP33 switch, or if you wanted HD on 129 as well, a rather pricey DPP44. I don't think an SW64 costs that much since it's ancient... Well I just googled it and the cheapest I see is $40 here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DISHNEWTWOR...lite_Signal_Multiswitches&hash=item27c7dfc1f2

The new 500+ comes with the new DPP LNB/switch assembly that has two DPP outputs (for two duo receivers) and an input for a DP dual on 129. That would give you the 3 sats you want (or 4 with 129). I'm having trouble googling the new LNB/w integrated DPP switch. But here it is on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00506DATW/?tag=satell01-20 for $53 before tax and shipping.

would i be able to set up as follows with my dish receiver and legacy equipment?

110 and 119 going into a sw44(i know i have to use both outputs of lnb to switch). take a out put into sat 1 of SW21 and 118 into sat 2 of SW21. then out of sw21 to receiver.

will that work?

If using DPP switches none of the equipment can be LEGACY If using the DP LNB for 118 no LEGACY EQUIPMENT CAN BE USED A dish 500+ uses DP LNBs.

i didn't say it was dp equipment. SW44 is a legacy switch is it not? if it is, and all my LNB's are legacy LNB's as previously stated, it should work no?

I think it would, with the strong recommendation to double up on the SW21's and cables to your 612. SW64 is a lot cleaner. Does Dish even make a SW44?

Also, if the LNB assembly on your 110/119 is actually a legacy twin, there is no need for the SW44 since twins all have integrated switches. In the case of the legacy twin, the receiver will show it as having SW21's inside.

no it's not a twin. single(dual output) dss 11250 LNB's

You hijacked this thread back on post #19 so to clarify you want to receive 110/118/119 using LEGACY LNBs and LEGACY Switches with a 612 receiver.

As I understand it 110/119/129 61.5/72/77 can work with LEGACY LNBs. As I understand 118 DISH receivers are not programmed to work with voltage switching LNBs they will only work with Dish Pro technology. The system for dish 500+ or 1000+ must be a DISH PRO SYSTEM. If I am wrong someone will point it out but it would explain your problems with LEGACY and 118.7.

118.7 is a FSS satellite (rest are DBS), and needs a special LNB to pick up signal from it. Legacy LNBs will not be able to pick up signal from this satellite.
