I'm thinking of purchasing a 211 HD reciever but curious what switch I need I currently have 3 legacy LNB dishes pointing at 110-119-129 so would a DPP44 switch work with this setup or do I have to buy new lnb's any help would be appreciated

You cannot use legacy lnb's with DP or DPP switches. I know that you used to be able to use a legacy twin with a sw-21 (cascaded) to work in conjunction with a legacy single but not sure if this will work with the MPEG-4 receivers. You would need to use DP lnb's with that switch or an lnb with all three slots and switch all built in that the current dishes use.

You used to be able to use a SW-21X and a SW-21 combined together to do 3 satellites. The SW-21X was not made by DISH but it was compatible and I assume is still available. If you already have LEGACY LNBs it is cheaper than buying new DP LNBs and switches and eliminates the power supply that was the weak link on SW-64s.

Are the sw-21's still working or a legacy twin cascaded with an sw-21? I tried that with a 211 and it would not work and had to use DP-34 and two DP lnb's.

yup.
When I first set up my 211k all I had here was an old Directv Phase II (the one with the separate removable LNB's) so I used that for 110 & 119 and a 36" for 129 with the SW31
Then I found a D500 at the lakehouse with a Legacy Twin so I brought that home and hooked that up

Legacy Twin on 110/119
36" dish on 129
SW21 combined them...worked fine til I cancelled this February

I read on here a while back at about the same time I tried it that others were having the same issues with getting sw-21/legacy twin/cascade to work. I've been selling off my legacy lnb's first as a result. I would rather stick with the DP/DPP anyways as it does the check switch quicker and we don't have to worry about compatibility issues with the legacy receivers anymore.

I agree. I ended up switching my dad out from a Legacy Quad to a DPTwin/DP34 switch....much cleaner results

the VIP equipment (any model # that is 3 digits) will work with any LNB's/switches...they just all have to be the same (Legacy or DishPro....can't mix them)

are you sure? cause i've tried a sw31 and a sw21 with a sw21x with my VIP 612, and it will only pick up 2 sats of the 3.

Trying to get 118, 119, 110 (all on separate dishes) only picks up 118 & 110.
