LD Symbol in Movie Listings?

Hi all, I'm new here.

I just got DirecTV and and a little overwhelmed with the wonderful choice of channels and information.

When looking in the on-screen guide, some of the movies (HBO, etc...) have symbols next them. I recognize HD as High Def, but I can't figure out what the LD symbol means. Or was it LB???, no I think it was LD.

What does the LD symbol mean?

I believe it is LB and it stands for Letterbox which describes the size of the picture. Basically, it will have the lines at the top and bottom of the screen.
