Latest osmio4k issues

I did that. The OpenVIX time still jumps around. Even after wiping all firmware and then re-installing it. OpenVIX is the only image that does this (so far).

Johnny, how does it "jump around"? Is it a few seconds type jump forward or back, or all over the place? Also, do you do complete power-downs, or just Standby's or ? Also, is your Mio hard-wired ethernet, or are you using it WiFi?

I had that problem with the image OpenVix 5.2.040, and whenever I tried doing a "Restart Enigma" after making some changes. I changed my Time Server to: time.windows.com and the problem went away. My Mio is hard-wired ethernet.

It jumps all over the place. Sometimes it's the correct time then a few minutes later it's way off. It comes back to the correct time and jumps to some way off time. I did pull the power cord to completely power off but it didn't fix the problem. It is wired ethernet using NTP.n Now here's another issue, I had OpenPLi in slot one but somehow OpenVIX overwrote it and now it's showing in slot one and slot 2 in the multiboot menu (see attachments). It was originally in slot 2 only.

Also, what time server is set on your ROUTER, and is it correct? I'm wondering if that could somehow be an issue in some cases.

Kind of scary, but I wonder what would happen if you temporarily set your Mio in the routers DMZ zone to see if that solves anything. If so, we could figure out why it makes a difference...

1. It happens while watching a program.
2. My router has nothing to do with the time since it isn't running a time server. Anyway, the time on the router is exact along with all of the PC's.
3. Not necessary to put it in the DMZ.
 
After removing OpenVIX from the 2 slots, I'm getting this nonsense (see attachments) after rebooting. I'm "done" with OpenVIX. Edit: turns out the second image below was due to a thumdrive with osmio4k folder with OpenVIX image in it. I still get the first image on reboot.

I have it setup to sync with NTP.

I'm sure you do. I'm also thinking it's just as likely that somehow, for some reason your Mio is getting 'bleed-through' (for lack of a better term) and syncing with the sat transponder time instead of NTP time. Which as we all know here in the USA sat transponder time is rarely if ever set correctly.

You had to flash emmc open vix to get the splash screen installed. All you need to do is make sure to be booted in slot 1 and then flash emmc openpli 7.0 release and the edision splash will be back.

Here is another issue. I'll consider reporting this to OpenPLi. Anyway, when I select the Multiboot menu the attached screen shows up. After the restart I can select the multiboot menu without the crash message. This happens in the OpenPLi image only.

Does it have to be 7.0 or can I use the latest 7.1 stable release to do this? I'm assuming that I will need to download the non-multiboot release?
 
7.1 has an issue with the TNAP image and multiboot so use 7.0 release if you are going to have TNAP in another slot. Yes non multiboot.

I guess I'll roll back to 7.0. I know that there is a problem with 7.1 crashing when bringing up the multiboot menu and it looks like they're still trying to fix the issue.

Are there any firmwares with openvpn or openvpn plugins other than OpenATV?
 
At least I figured out why I couldn't stream over VPN. It's strange having to go into the receiver openwebif options and enable allow VPN connections. I would've thought that something like that would be allowed by default - not restricted. Anyway, I'm surprised that 3 of my 4 firmwares can't see my routers 5 GHz wifi signal. It's also interesting that my osmio has one firmware that can't separate Decades and Heros while the other 3 can even though it's the same tuner.
 
The Mio and Mio+ 4K hardware supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The images control what band is available in the GUI. The SatDreamGR (and TNAP) images support the 2.4GHz band.

The ≤ 4MHz spacing issue appeared with kernel 5.2 continues with kernel 5.3 on most images. TNAP v1 and soon to be released v2 images are based on kernel 5.3 and thanks to el Bandido, both support ≤ 4MHz transponder and service logging.

Good....sounds like we're getting closer to being ready to release.
 
el Bandido responeded in the openatv forum. The issues are contributed to a few things mainly. Linux kernel 5.3.0 used in newer images. And Edision...leading to Availink who owns the tuner drivers. Drivers need to be updated to address the issues found after the fact. When? Who puts the pressure on them both? Who knows!
Remember. I was ready to jump and buy a mio+ when I found out Titanium was now selling them.
The Zgemma H7.XX models had tuner problems. Never got fixed. But a bunch were sold.
For the most part I'm very satisfied with my mio. Newer images and time spent getting used to the receiver have uncovered deficiencies.
I was told that there is a TNAP image which should take care of some on the problems for now. I'd like to get my hands on it (no luck so far).
I even questioned if VU+, Dreamboxes with pluggable tuners would allow me to choose a tuner/demodulator which would work as perfect as expected 'over here'.
Reply was good idea and theory. But unfortunately a no go.
So. Who informs and puts pressure on the manufacturer?

So the Availink drivers for the OS Mio / Mio+ are proprietary and closed source? Part of the appeal of the Mio+ (at least to me) would be to have the ability to adapt it to my needs. Without driver source code I couldn't accomplish that.
