L648 on 612s

The night before last my receiver updated to L648. Last night a thunderstorm came through and I got the dreaded "total loss of signal "screen. I left it that way and took a break but before I could do anything, the receiver crashed, rebooted, and got stuck on Acquiring Satellite Signal. I could hit the menu button, but option #1 would not display the guide. As a consequence, I couldn't switch to an OTA channel. Very annoying.

Apparently! I wonder if it's also gotten the disappearing rental disease that has returned to my 722?

Good news! Rentals remain overnight on my 612's. (Not so on my 722.) I still haven't found any new/improved features.
