Could content management be "folders" and such for organizing your hard drive's contents.
This is what they said on the tech chat but they were not referring to any particular update.
I am very new to Dish network (about 2 months) and have a 722 that is having some reboot issues. Tech support said it is a known software problem (L448).
There was talk awhile back, that the component output will be crippled to put out 480p or 480i only in the near future. Just wondering if that what "Content Management" was about..
Any further info or speculation on whether they will (whenever they roll it out) eliminate ALL 1080i output on component, or will it depend on the channel or the content? Might they just force 480 for movies? Would they allow 1080i for HD locals? I was hoping they would hold off on this until the Mitsu lasers are out, otherwise I may be forced to buy something else sooner. I wonder how many people will drop their HD package? If they kill all of my HD, why would I pay for it until I get a new TV?
All tv regardless what provider you have will have to be hdcp compliant. Meaning hdmi and no more component. This is not the providers fault but network and big wigs in Hollywood running with this. The date when this takes place, who knows. Scott had posted a memo going to Dish installers about hooking up hd to hd receivers in 2008 because component will be downgraded to a 480i or 480p picture. I can't remember which. 480p I do believe.
The providers share some of the blame too - as do all the lemmings that blindly take what hollywood dishes out. If providers refused to sign some of these contracts and viewers boycotted producers that insist on restricting or crippling content, they'd have to loosen up - or go broke.
Dish hasn't added a single HD channel in how many months ? They're not out of business yet....If you don't believe me, read the "angry about no new HD" thread...
Have you called Dish to report this ? When small groups of users get a s/w update, they *need* to know when there's problems. Clearly their small 'beta" group is insufficient to find things.
Yea and that's basically the same rational Charlie used to retract his pledge to never allow porn on Dish Network........For example, if Dish Network were to say "we won't accept Hollywood's restrictions", then Hollywood says "fine, you can no longer show our films" and on Dish Network, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz go dark, and all the other channels show a slate during movies, then millions of their customers would switch to DirecTV and Dish would be out of business within a few months....
