I purchased a used motorhome with a kvh s2 vintage 2003. I have tried to connect my dish vip-211 receiver and it only seems to want to lock on sat 61 and 148. I need 110 and 119 but it doesn't seem to find them. KVH gave me some troubleshooting such as hold the sat select and turn on the dish and wait for a flash. I have also tried holding satellite select for 10-15 seconds after turning on dish power to reboot the dish, all to no avail. I have tried everything I know such as check switch, point dish with sat 119 and transponder 11 etc. All I want to be able to do at this time is get the s2 to find 119 ans use my vip-211. Eventually toggeling between 110 and 119 and maybe even finding 129 would be most excellent. But for now baby steps, can anyone tell me how to get this s2 to find sat 119? Thanks.

I've done a couple receiver installs in motorhomes and they are a bitch. If you want to use elevation settings from the screen...The motorhome has to be exactly level, or close. If you can get 61.5 and 148 (congratulations on 148) your dish elevation is set very low, and at that setting you won't hit any of the 110,119, or 129. It's really a guessing game with those dishes. If you have the 61.5 locked, I would raise your elevation about 8 degrees and sweep it to the southwest, and that's just an estimate depending on where you are located, it may be different.
You have the right idea, on the sat screen put in sat 119 and transponder 11, and sweep east to west until you hit it.

Thanks for your reply. This KVH S-2 Dome is supposed to scan from one satellite to the next by pressing a button and using it in the manual mode. It only will find the two satellites mentioned above and I am not sure how to seep the sky. I did once go on the motorhome roof, take off the cover and point it manually and get a signal. But, when we moved the motorhome and tried to find it again, we couldn't. KVh sent generic reboot and locate instructions for pressing on/off and position buttons, but it didn't work. They will troubleshoot over the phone for $85 which I am willing to pay if it works. Anyone had experience with KVH phone troubleshooting?

can't comment as to their customer service, but you mentioned eventually finding 129. as long as your locals aren't carried there, there is no reason to find 129 if you get 61.5. I wish I had more experience with these dome dishes, but can't offer anything else. Sorry

The reason to find 129 is that all of the high def programming for DISH network is now carried on sat 129 and the vip-211 and my tvs are HD. I use this receiver at home and do a check switch and get 110, 119 and 129 with HD programming. When I move the receiver to the motor home and try to reboot it and do a check switch the KVH s2 won't find 110, 119 or 129. I may call KVH and have them troubleshoot over the phone. They e-mailed today and said if they don't fix the problem they don't charge the money.
