? Ku Sats between 30W and 61W for N.A.

Is anyone pulling down any consistent channels (non-feeds) from the satellites between 30W and 61W? I am detecting many TPs on all these satellites, but I never find a channel that is anything more than just a temporary feed channel.

I do not have my universal Ku LNBF attached right now, so all I am looking for is the upper Ku band signals.

I want to ensure that I am not missing anything in this part of the arc.

61w Amazonas 2 aways has their Amazonas promo video clip running in a continous loop. It's a short movie showing the building, launching, and orbiting of the new satellite service.

30w has Cuba channels but I'm not sure how far up the US they can be received. I get 'em fine here in St Pete.

61W has WooHoo at 4168H 3461 If you're into surfing, skateboarding, and music videos and Canal 13 from Paraguay at 4174H 3330 if you speak Spanish.... Oops , missed the KU requirement.

30w is wall to wall, tree top tall, in N. MN.
And I can's see C or Ku east of 53W except for 30W where the stationary 1.2 is. The other 1.2 on a polar mount project didn't get finished before the snow and cold and dark.

Thanks for your replies so far, but I am already pulling in channels from 30 W and 61 W. What I am looking for is anything in between these two. I seem to have a dead zone here except for a few spurious wild feeds. Anyone have a rock solid (consistent) channel that is on the upper Ku band from anything in the middle here?

I get a slight signal from the Sky Mexico transponders on 58W, but its usually not strong enough to lock. I doubt that you can get those at all in Omaha, though.

In my experience, anything East of 72W is pretty much a no-man's land with regard to Ku-Band (until you get to 30W, of course)...

If, like me, you aren't set up to decode AC3 audio or get HD, the South Carolina PBS mux on 63W is a good alternative to 125W. I keep looking for more to pop up on Amazonas at 61W as well. I'd have to put up another dish to get anything east of 61. I was real surprised to find I could go that far when I changed my motor a couple months ago.

Yes, I have been trying to keep my eye on the new Amazonas 2 satellite as well. This could be promising in the future. I just hope it isn't a tease like Telstar 11N @ 37.6°W has been up to this point.

I don't mind the language barrier. I wouldn't understand the content of many of the channels on 97W either, but I enjoy the fact that I can detect them and scan them in. Regardless if I ever view them, I like to know that my system is set so that I can dial them in. So, the same is true for me with all the satillites in between 30 and 61. I guess I could put my Universal Ku LNBF back on the dish and play around with that. But, there doesn't seem to be a great deal available in the low Ku Band either. I just wish I had something more in this zone than nothing at all. Even the wild feeds down there are ellusive for me because I don't check them often enough.

That is pretty much what I am finding. I see strong quality signals on some TPs, but there is never any channels which are FTA. On a few occasions, I have even tried to allow my AZBox or my Coolsat to scan for the encrypted channels, but I never picked up anything there either. I think that one sat is active, but it has an inclined orbit and I don't want to readjust my dish for just a few channels that I won't ever watch just for the sake of testing that one. Maybe setting up a fixed dish for it in the future for fun could be in order.

you can check your alignment with basically 3 satellites....

your true south satellite....a satellite at the western end of your arc....and a satellite at the eastern end of your arc....if your getting all three of these with relatively good quality then your motor is pretty much setup perfect....

Funny you should mention that, a new channel just showed up today. I have no idea what they want with Polish music in South America, but then I have no idea what they want with Coptic liturgy there either, but there it is on the same transponder even...

There was once some really interesting programming on 43W, but sadly, that seems to be gone. 30W is just outside my USALS range, so I have to use 1.2 to hit 30W. Having a fixed dish at 30W would simplify matters quite a bit, and give me some great programming anytime I want it.

Your description sounds precisely like the boat that I am in! I have to switch to DiSEqC 1.2 for Hispasat, too. And, I one had some good channels on 43W (primarly Dr Dish) and have lost them all, too.

Mikey, I am not fretting over my dish and motor alignment here. It is the notion that there are no available channels in this part of my horizon that disturbs me. Not so much that I think I could do better with my alignment, but that I am disappointed that there isn't more stuff available here. Other than FEED channels that seem to be rare as well. There is a lot of empty space in between 30 and 61. It should be better used!

It's been awhile since I switched from a universal Lnb and another receiver, but I recall either on 43w or 58w there was an Italian channel I watched once in a while. One show would visit and review different strip joints .

Could that have been TeleFoggia? On 43°W? I scanned that in about 5 years ago, but never watched it. Shortly afterwards, I lost it entirely and have never been able to rescan it since. Now I think that sat has been sent to the boneyard or re-commissioned for use at another orbital with an inclined orbit. Basically, no longer active. If it has been replaced at the original orbital location (43W) they aren't beaming anything my way as I don't even pick out one signal or even a glimmer.
