Ok, so I used to have a setup with an HDTV in the main room with coax stretching from the 722 box to a 2nd SD TV in the bedroom. Just got a 2nd HDTV now for the bedroom. At the moment, I just hooked up the coax to the back of the 2nd HDTV.

Now I understand I can only get one HD signal, and it'd only go to the main TV, correct? There's no way of having an HD signal on the 2nd TV when I'm not using the main TV?

Next, the 2nd TV seems zoomed in on, I've got it set to 16:9 but for instance, a cable channel's watermark in the lower right corner is always cut off. Any way to make the ratio right, or is that just because its standard def?

Finally, what about DVR'd HD programming and OTA local HD channels on the 2nd TV? Is that possible? In the setup, the local channel setup is grayed out on the 2nd TV, and the DVR programs are also in standard def and cut off like the regular programming is on the 2nd TV.

Thanks for any answers.

Your 722 has only one OTA tuner, and this is fixed forever onto the TV1 output. So that is why you can neither set up nor tune live to an OTA channel.

All outputs on your 722 are live simultaneously, so some people mirror one of the TV1 HD outputs to a 2nd TV. Obviously if both TVs are on at once, then they will see the same program. I'm personally running about 35' of HDMI cable in two segments to my family room HDTV, and this works well. Some have gone even further.

The only way to get HD out of TV2 is via the Sling Adapter. You could either use a HTPC in your bedroom or wait until Dish releases the Sling Extender.

You could get a second HD DVR 612, or 722K. I personally recommenced the 722K. PM one of the DIRT team members here and they'll help you out.

As far as picture goes every tv is a bit different u might need to play around until u find the best setting. Using the format button on the dish remote I use the Normal setting. Some channels fill the screen and some don't.

To elaborate on Krells statement. You could run the HDMI to 2nd room and hook up component (Rd, Bl, & Gr) to the main TV and then the audio could be stereo out of DVR or fiber to a surround sound receiver.

OR get a powered HDMI splitter and then you can use HDMI at both TVs.......

For the display on the bedroom TV. I use letterbox on the TV2 output, then play around with the picture size button on the 2nd tv till I get the full HD type display on the TV. As far as watching ota on the 2nd tv.
That can be done by switching to single mode. Then the output is the same to both tv's. If you want true hd to the bedroom, your best bet is the 211 with the ehd as previously suggested.

It sounds like a good idea but how do you control the receiver from the second room (the receiver is in the main room)?

Just leave the receiver in the main room on single tuner setting, and use your second remote. You are just splitting the same signal. I would suggest just getting a 211, and getting an external hard drive. The box will only cost you an extra $7 per month, and the $40 one time fee to turn it into a DVR. That is the setup that I have and it works pretty slick.

In addition to what has been posted, you can leave the bedroom tv hooked up to the 722 via coax and the 211 to the tv's hdmi input. This gives you the option of watching what you have on the dvr or watching the 211. Basically that is my set up. That way I don't need to use my sling adapter here in the house. Only when I travel .

What if you are maxed out on receivers like i am? Anyone know when Dish is going to come out with a receiver with 2 HD outputs?

You buy a 2nd UHF remote like the one you have for TV2. I always do this so that I can put my receivers in a closet.

We have a 47" HD in the main room.. 32" HD in the bedroom, and a 622. For our viewing distance (~15 ft to to the TV in the bedroom), the coax/SD feed is fine, and certainly not worth the effort to string HD upstairs. If/when the rumored HD over coax (I think I read that would be possible with the xip boxes??), I will only even switch to that if we add a 3rd TV in the bonus room (and that TV would likely be large enough that we'd care about HD)

As for the aspect ratio... use your 2nd remove and one of the buttons near the bottom says something like 'format'.. toggle that back and forth.. it should allow you to get what you want.. and make sure your 2nd TV isn't applying any aspect ratio changes of its own.
