Just got the Hopper/Joey. The tech made a tab in the Hopper screen that says "family room" which is correct.

When I go to the bedroom I see the same tab and no way to put a different one there like bedroom. Is this possible or ??

Thanks !

If you are wanting to name the Joey itself, go to the Joey, Press Menu>Settings>Network Setup>Whole Home>Location Name

I think the OP is referring to the sticky tabs that are placed on the remotes themselves. The installer should have left the sticky labels with you so that you could change or replace any you wanted. However, some installers clean-up by taking those pre-printed tabs with them. If you really want some so that you can replace the tabs, call Dish and speak with a CSR in USA and see if they will send some to you.

FWIW, I use my Brother Label Printer (P-touch) to label my Dish Hopper and Joey Remotes. You will notice that the Hopper/Joey remotes have a big blank space at the bottom just above the word "dish". The blank spot is where I place my Gold on Black label. Looks great.

There is no way to send out the labels. However a new remote sent out would ship with new labels. If your remote "failed" it would be under your protection plan that you get free for four months

I actually meant that there is a tab on the screen that says "family room" when looking at the screen hooked to the Hopper.

I was wondering why that same tab was there when looking at the TV in the bedroom with the Joey or if I could make another tab in there that said bedroom.

The remotes are already paired correctly.

Do you see this when you push the red button? Give us an idea what steps you took to see "family room" on your Joey....

Turn on the TV and then Joey.
Press DVR

Color tabs across the top and one that says Family Room. Maybe it is just accessing the DVR in the Hopper?

Yeah, I called about a bad remote after my first Hopper upgrade. Explained it was just a sticky red button. Thought I was clear about.

They shipped me a new Hopper.

That is telling you where your stored programs are located, in this case on your family room Hopper.... If you had an external hard drive on that Hopper you would be able to access programming on it by pressing that family room button and you would get a drop down showing both the Hopper and EHD....

FWIW, I have my Hoppers named "DVR" as part of the name to kind of get the effect you were expecting on the screen lable. For example: DVR Living Room; DVR Mike's Room.

I personally never liked my source tab name ONLY for the room, but wanted DVR as part of the name not only for myself, but especially Mom and Guests who NEED such prompts as to what they are accessing, not just the device (Joey? to their thinking) but the OTHER DVR.

No, I do NOT include the name "Joey" in the client titles. For those I just use the name of the room or a family members personal name such as "Office" or "Tim's Room"
