It’s incredibly thin. Barely thicker than a USB or HDMI port. About the size of a 6-7 inch tablet length/width wise.
I've tried to get Joey 3s to replace my 2s and the CSR gave me "they're exactly the same, you don't need them". Never experienced that kind of rudeness from a Dish CSR before. But also told they are not out in all markets yet either. My 2s are quite slow now.
My tech had just received them a couple days before my upgrade appointment. Now he’s trying to hoard them in his van for new installs.
Do you agree that they're just a little bit faster than the Joey 2? Not really worth the upgrade?
To me it’s as much of a difference as the HWS is to the H3. Personally I think it’s worth it. You can scroll through the guide a page at a time with no lag. Same with every other menu. Everything about it is faster to me. And it doesn’t get real hot like the first two. The Joey 3 was certainly well over due.
I went from a wireless joey to a joey 3 and personally it was worth the upgrade, I noticed the difference between the two.
I have a problem with Pandora but my H3 has the same problem so its just mirrored I think. I don't pay for Netflix so I don't know but the rest of the apps work fine. Locals work fine.....
Talk to five different CSR's on pretty much any subject and you'll get five different answers.

They should be able to find a way to get you Joey 3’s. I don’t see a reason they can’t send them as ‘replacements’ because they use the same wiring as the 2
If you do get them, make sure your Hopper 3 is on at least U507, HWS on U242 or else they may have problems getting them to link up and download.
We replaced our Joey2 with Joey 3. Night and day performance in our view! Joey3 is much faster going through the menus & accessing apps like Netflix. And the 54 voice remote is awesome! I’m amazed at how well it works.

I forgot to mention, to do the upgrade I went through the DIRT team here on the SG board. We got the upgraded Joey3’s free but had to agree to a 2 year contract. The contract works like a cell phone plan - each month you keep the service the early termination fee is reduced. We’re a long time Dish customer and are very happy with the service, so we are quite sure we’ll be keeping the service for at least 2 more years.
Performance difference between the Joey 3 and 4K Joey. Which one is faster or is it about the same?
From memory they are both about the same. The Joey 3 is down stairs and the 4K Joey is up stairs so hard to do an exact comparison between the two.
That's good advice. I think I'll wait until these Joey 3's become available for purchase at Dish Depot or some other place. I'd rather buy one and install it myself than suffer another 2 year commitment.
