I was watching HD News saturday morning. There were a clip, showing sony was releasing the first 20,000 new 60gig ps3 at launch to the UK, with the James Bond Casino Royale Bluray disc included.
Casino Royale bundle sounds perfect for a UK launch. Seriously. Smart choice.
Was Talledega Nights a bad transfer or was it shot inconsistently? Even a good colorist (transfer technician) can only do so much when the materials are variant in quality. A lot of A/V types tend to misjudge those things (including reviewers who should know better--i.e. a little about cinematography) and think that any film can be made to look perfect and uniform through fancy technology. Multi-million-dollar software-algorithm driven restorations (ala Lowry Digital) have spoiled us, I guess. We assume all films get that kind of treatment. They don't/can't.
