J3 over Ethernet

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. As of 12:05 PM ET our provider has moved us to a new server.

Things seem to be running better on this new server. However in trying to diagnose the issue (before finding out it was a hardware issue) we made some system changes which we need to undo. So if you find any issues or errors please let us know in the Operations Center Forum.

Thank you for your patience! Sorry for the issue!

Back when I first got my H3 with 2 J3's, I experimented with one of them by unplugging the coax but leaving the Ethernet connected. After some chaos and confusion with the network settings, it worked great! Fast forward to today when I experimented again. No joy no matter what I reset.

Is there some magic setting that I should have used to get this going, or is that now prohibited? IIRC it's on J537. Maybe 536.

I have a J2 working over ethernet right now. That J2 used to be hooked up via coax years ago until I moved a J3 into that location. I simply activated the J2 and plugged ethernet from the Hopper 3 directly into the J2 and it works fine.

I actually got to thinking about it and unplugged my ethernet cable from the Hopper to the J2. Then I plugged a short ethernet cable between my LAN hub to the J2 and that worked too! Of course the Hopper is also plugged into the same LAN to get internet.
