Is there any decent channels left on c-band?

Have not been watching any satellite for about a year. Just listening to christian stations on c-band 87 west.

My satellite receiver, recently went out on me.

Just checked lyngsat , and am shocked to see what little free fta is left.

I frankly think, there are almost no decent fta stations left on c-band.

Decent definition: channels being rated at less then tv-14.

Is luken still around. Can't find luken on lyngsat.

Lukens sat died so the mux is on 101W now.

^^^ He's right, but 101W alone has a ton of FTA c-band channels that are all watchable. 99W right next door has a bunch also. You could even put a fixed dish on these, and it would be well worth it. If done right, you could aim in-between them, and you should be able to get the best channels from both.

Both 101 and 99? What size dish would work, 10 foot? I thought the scalers would get in the way and you would need a minimum of 4 degrees satellite spacing.

It's been a while, but it worked for me with a 7.5' dish and one LNBF. It's somewhat of a compromise, but the stronger transponders (and those with lower FEC) worked just fine. The dish would be "looking" at about 100°, but would receive most of the 101°W and 99°W transponders.

What he is saying is aim the dish with one LNB(F). You put it in between and still get the strong transponders from both.

The four degree spacing guideline was primarily for Ku band.

Perhaps "family-friendly TV" would be a better term as it doesn't require definition. "Decent" is perhaps more commonly associated with technical quality.

Metv, RetroTv, AntennaTv have decent shows. TCM is one of the best channels on any network! But it has been sad for me since Osborne died.
