Is signal strength "relative" depending on which STB you have?

HI all..

I'm just curious. On my 2 DirecTivo's and my one Samsung plain DTV box, I get high 80's to mid 90's (99 on some)on all three birds.

On my new HTL-HD, I'm getting high 70's to mid 80's on the same transponders. Highest is 85 on the same tranponders my DTivos show 99. (and yes, I've taken the HD box to the different rooms to see if it's a cabling issue....same results.)

Are the internal meters just a relative thing per box?

I guess I shouldn't worry since everything comes in okay?

yep
As an example, the old Dish Network receivers would max out at 100, even though the meter went to 125.
Had a 4000 and my spotbeams had 100 signal. Hooked up the 508 and it went to 125 :)
