  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. As of 12:05 PM ET our provider has moved us to a new server.

Things seem to be running better on this new server. However in trying to diagnose the issue (before finding out it was a hardware issue) we made some system changes which we need to undo. So if you find any issues or errors please let us know in the Operations Center Forum.

Thank you for your patience! Sorry for the issue!

I have a HR54 + 4Kmini located together at my Sony Bravia 4K TV with the 4Kmini only for viewing 4K sports on 105-107. I have removed all other DTV equipment in favor of using the DirecTV app for occasional viewing on smart TV's in other rooms.
the HR54 is 4K capable. Is there a reason you don't just use the HR54 directly? Nothing wrong with how you do it, just curious since it's a more complicated set up for (what feels to me) minimal gain.

One downfall of the Gemini is you need an internet conn since it has its own os
So does any streaming device. The Gemini is an Android OS (Google OS?) streaming device which has an app that serves as a Genie client. It boots up in that client and returns to it when you push DirecTV client buttons on your remote. But a wired Gemini can use the MOCA network to get its internet connection through the Genie server.

Agree there. But if anyone in the house has some one that don't know what in the hell there doing and downloads every on demand and ppv in sight that genie will be full in a night. Our acct is blocked from ordering junk but it still downloads them even though we can't watch em. Back in the day they had a block that popped a message up forcing one to call in. In that situation atleast the genie and 4k minis can be disconnected from the internets.. it's a pia it delete every thing

You can still disconnect the Genie from the internet which also kills the internet on any clients that are tied to the Genie.

We were told not for the Gemini since it has its own os..
You don't even have an opportunity to access anything on the OS on the Gemini. If your Gemini is setup as wireless it connects to a video bridge and gets its internet access through the Genie. If it is wired it also gets its internet access through the Genie via the MOCA network as Tom Speer mentioned previously.
