I recently installed a IR/UHF pro upgrade kit on my VIP 211 HD receiver.
I want to purchase additional UHF remotes for other rooms.
Which ones will work? I asked Dish twice but get no help.
The kit came with a 10.1 remote but it isn't even listed on their site.
Will other UHF pro remotes work such as 6.2, 6.3 ?

Thanks,
Mark

Pretty sure, they don't make a specific remote that goes with the kit. It's just a UHF remote programmed with the same remote code #'s.

For the "PRO" IR-to_UHF upgrade kit, you need a compatible UFH "PRO" remote. The only remotes that are PRO that I know of are the 4.0 (standard remote), the 6.2 (for DVR) and the 8.0 (for HD).

I got the following from Dish Network regarding this...

The only remote that will work with the IR to UHF Pro Converter is the 10.1 (or 8.1 which was replaced by 10.1). While the Converter is UHF Pro like the 6.2 or 6.3 remote the Converter and its remote have their own unique UHF frequencies. He can get a replacement 10.1 via Service as it is not sold as a Finished Good through our web site.

So looks like you can get it from the DishStore.NET website.

Thanks Dish for watching and helping out this user. :)

That explains a lot!

I read this thread a couple of nights ago and had my doubts about it working. I remembered someone asked a similar question a few months back - they had an RV and didn't want to get out of the lounge chair to change the channel and needed a second remote. I don't know if they ever reported their results buying a second remote or not, and could not find the thread when I did a search.

I noticed the IR to UHF PRO Upgrade Kit also uses two frequencies. Unlike the 6.3 IR/UHF PRO remotes where you change the two available frequenices (UHF PRO A and UHF PRO B) from inside the battery compartment, this kit has a switch on the box and you change the frequencies on the remote by switching out the two supplied key tabs.

Since the Key Tabs are used to switch the frequencies, that left me wondering if the upgrade kit would properly recognize UHF PRO Remote 1 and/or UHF PRO Remote 2.

:hatsoff:

Whew

Thanks for the help guys.
Guess I need to cough up the dough for new 8.1 or 10.1 remotes.
Ebay is covered up with all the rest but not these!

So Scott.....

I take it there are at least 3 sets of frequencies being used.
(1) UHF Remotes for earlier UHF receivers such as the 2000 (1 Channel);
(2) UHF PRO Remotes for newer UHF PRO receivers such as ViP 622 (2 Channels); and
(3) UHF PRO Remotes for the IR to UHF PRO Upgrade Kit (2 Channels).

And then maybe those 7100/7200 receivers?

Is there a decent universal remote that will substitute for the IR/UHF Pro Dish remotes? One that, for instance, learns other remotes IR codes and allows for macro programming?

Since I can find no documentaiton of the UHF codes these remotes emit and on what frequencies, it would likely be impossible to rig something to send IR signals to (say, from a decent universal remote...) that would then emit the signals that these things natively send for various of the remote's buttons.

I need something with better capabilities to control the equipment in the room displaying my TV2 output from my DVR 625 dual tuner unit. Any ideas out there are welcome. A universal remote that can learn UHF commands would be ideal, but some ideas about how to get the info to build my proposed "IR command to UHF command translator" are OK as well.

It may have been on one of the sub-forums, but I've seen a couple of posts with links to the FCC approval for some of the remotes.

Maybe when everyone gets back from installing, the casino's, or whatever, they will read your post and give the link again.

i know this has been addressed...
