MRV with 2 HR-23's
Well, it finally happened
(and it was unexpected) at around 2:00 pm EDT this afternoon. I got a message on one of my DVR's saying that the MRV Beta was over.
I was sure surprised to find out the free ride was over.
Okay, that's now $20.00 for DVR+MRV+HD, in addition to the $61.95 for the Total Choice package, and another $4.99 for the HD Extra Pack. I guess that $87.00 per month for really cool HD Access is not that bad. AND... I just got MSNBC HD today too!
I guess I don't mind the fact that they are charging more for the service, I've been with D*TV/USSB since '95, and my bill for TV hasn't gone up all that much in the last 15 years, considering that I stayed well ahead of the curve in technology, much more advanced than my neighbors with cable. I had a dual tuner DVR (D*TiVo) years before a cable company
ever thought it was a good idea to offer such things.
D*TV just gave me a 2nd DVR (through Movers Connection) for free, so now I have 4 DVRs (2 HR-23 and 2 DirecTivo DSR-708) working and trouble-free.
The call to D*TV today to get the service added took about 30 minutes. The CSR that I talked to had never done it before, but with a little bit of prompting from me, following the instructions I found on this forum, I was up and running without any real headaches, and now the CSR knows how to add the service to customers with wired/wireless connections. I'm using 4 Cisco/Linksys Routers (running DD-WRT Firmware) with 3 of them configured as wireless bridges on each floor of the house without any headaches, and I didn't have to string a single run of Cat-6 Cabling in the house for all of my networking issues.
I wish that I could have done a SWM LNB with the install at my new address, but with legacy equipment, that wasn't an option, and I like my D*TiVo's too much go give them up, and I still need them with a small Dual-LNB dish on a tripod while RV'ing.
