Larry i think has one of thes units , Larry does the fortec Classic prompt you to save setting before it will let you goto the next satellite ( i know the coolsat does promp you if you have changed something)

I just factory reset "again". Set my true south (G3c) did a channel scan. using usals. (I have G3C with a lock of 66%).

This is my exact next step.

fortec classic:

Name: I chose to set AMC 4KU
its not set so I go to "Positioner"
Positioner is set on Usals I hit save & exit (my lat & long are set).
it says information please wait while dish moves to amc 4ku... only problem is the dish does not move........
It does this no matter which sat I try to load.

a completed antena set up reads like this uning usals:
scan: press ok
name: amc 4ku
tp freq
lnb type: UNI
LNB Power: 13/18
22khz: auto
positioner: set(v13)
diseqc: off
sat lock: off
scan mode: FTA Only
network Search: OFF

I can go outside and manually find the sat using the e/w button on the motor. I then set the "position" do a channel scan, and everything looks cool, until I go to load the next sat. But it will not come back to that Sat once I leave to go manually go to another sat. The only sat that it seems to ever move to is my true south.

?

am i missing a step?

you might want to wait for someone with this type of receiver
mine works the same way

select satellite (lets say G3C)
select positioner USALS , 1.2 or none (default is none i selected USALS)
location (enter long & lat here)
now here is where i would save ( would save it as satellite G3C) and if i went back to try to view channels only satellite G3C would be there.

then i could go back and add next satellite say AMC4

select satellite (AMC4)
select positioner USALS , 1.2 or none (default is none i selected USALS)
location (long & lat are already entered on a coolsat after first time)
now here is where i would save ( would save it as satellite AMC4)
do a blind scan ( and it saves the channels)
and if i went back to try to view channels satellites G3C & AMC 4 would be there.

repeat steps above for other sats

the only thing that might alter any of these would be if your ar manually entering a live TP to get the signal.

you might want to wait to verify information with one of the guys that has a fortec classic.

Yes thats basicly what I'm doing. Thats why I think its either a bad receiver or motor. When I go to set the next sat it doesn't go there. I have to manually do it outside even with usals. Then once I come back in and save it. It says it saves it but it doesn't.

thanks for the response's George!

well that doesn't sound right you shouldn't have to go out and manually move the motor. once you ( or the coolsat does) once you set the positioner (diseqc motor) to USALS it should move the motor. and a little pop up will tell you its moving. well that how my CS5K is doing it.

nothing is between the receiver & the motor right?

nothing

Airgator, bring up the setup screen on a satellite other than your true south one. Does it say USALS for the positioner setting? In other words, is your receiver remembering that you set up that satellite for USALS, or does it say 'OFF'?

i know its real late or early . it would be best to be out at the motor when entering a command and to see exactly what the motor is doing or what
the lights on the motor is doing.

you haven't done a motor reset yet just a receiver reset right?

too bad your in KC lol or my weekend wasn't long enough just to pop in and hook my CS up and see if it would move your motor.

Tron sounds like he's loading everything right & saving ,but it acts like its saving but doesn't save. receiver doesn't remember ( Airgator when you go to one of the sats you loaded and saved are they still there with the settings you saved it with ??)

the only thing i can think of maybe .... Airgator96 did the long & lat get entered when you set the first satellite G3C and Save ?? this should be on the same screen as when you set the positioner to USALS

I have this receiver. Here is what I would do. If you have not done so already, do a motor reset. Turn on the receiver, go out and move the motor to 0. Now stick a toothpick, etc in the reset hole - it is above the green light. Press and hold for 2 seconds, light flashes orange then goes back to green. Now go inside and turn receiver off. Wat a about 30 seconds and turn back on. Now I might even go as far as doing a factory reset on the receiver and start from scratch. Not sure if that is needed or not. But it might not hurt.

Now, go back and setup each satellite. When you get to the option for "positioner", go in and make sure your lat and long is entered. Select USUALS if it is not, press the red button for "save" or the green button for "save and exit". You should get s pop up that says "moving dish...." Now either enter a live tp and check signal strength or go ahead and do a blind scan. This has to be done for each satellite that you what to set up.

Not sure if any of the above is new information to you, but I just thought I would give you the run down in case you missed a step. Hopefully by resetting everything it will clear your motor and receiver and everything would be fresh. Good luck!

Yes, once you set the first satellite position, you put in the long/lat, and once you go to another sat and put usals the long/lat automaticly pops up.

Re-reading some of your post, I don't see (might have missed it if you did) but I would suggest that you reset the motor. I had issues the other night when I tried to force the motor to go to 30w. I had done factory reset on the receiver, no luck. THe motor only wanted to go to my true south sat. After I manually reset the motor, all was well. I also reset the receiver again at the point just so I was "fresh".

Hi Larry where ya been lol

Yes, once you set the first satellite position, you put in the long/lat, and once you go to another sat and put usals the long/lat automaticly pops up.
well at least that part sounds like its working

I would agree with Larry & Tron a motor reset and even a fresh receiver reset after that. you basically know how to set everything up. so its a walk in the park just need it to start working correctly. and thats the frustrating part. at least you made it this far . plus you've gained invaluable experince on how to point and aim that dish . when this gets to working right you will be a pro.

Match, Set, Point!

Larry, George, and Tron you Da men!

I reset the motor, and receiver a couple times, and it finally took!

I'll also divulge my stupidness in a little while.... I want to actually enjoy this thing for a min.

Now for my stupidness!

I thought the motor reset button was the green light, because of the rubber pushy thingy. I just kept pushing it and pushing it, and thought why isn't this thing turning orange!

Then I took off the the rubber thingy, and started looking for the button... thinking maybe it had broke!

Then the light goes on in my head look around the motor! Bingo! The little tiny pin hole... :(

Now If I can find something to get those pbs ac3 audio to work!

well at least thats an easy mistake lol glad every is working now , and you can enjoy

yeah the ac3 thing has got me 2 , ice mentioned something for wally world maybe i can get him to explain , don't know if he meant a whole new surrond sound system or an adapter.
