If I join up now I can get a couple of HD receivers, etc. and pay $250 if I want for an HD recorder. All of this, as I understand it is a lease and needs to be returned to Dish if I cancel.

If I do cancel down the road and go back to cable, then go back to Dish a few months later, will I get the normal receivers and free installation again etc or am I pretty much screwed and need to buy everything?

Once I become a previous customer are all deals out the window?

I could probably go with Dish and stick with it, but I am concerned about the MPEG-4 and obsolete equipment that Dish will want to charge me to upgrade. I would stick with Cable, but I like the idea of the 942 working on another TV, which would work out great for me. Cable is raking me over the coals, but giving good bundled offers to new customers, so I may want to leave for a while and come back to Cable.

There are SOME deals available for a returning customer - after you've been gone long enough, and IF you are willing to go with an 18 month committment.
