currently have a VIP622 in my living room set to single mode, and a VIP211 in my bedroom.

my main goal is to add DVR ability to my bedroom tv... i think there are two ways of doing this..

A) upgrade my 211 (single tuner HD) to a 612 (single tuner HD DVR)

or

B) upgrade my 622 (dual tuner HD DVR) to a 722 and set it in dual mode and eliminate the 211 in my bed room.

if i go route B ill save the $5 extra receiver fee a month, and be able to watch stuff DVRed in the living room, and also transfer live tv.

if i go route A ill gain a separate DVR that wont interfere with my main room, but incur an extra $5 a month dvr fee.

if i decide to go route B, what will change as far as watching tv and recording stuff compared to how it is set up now (dual tuner single set Vs dual tuner dual set)?

option b you will lose (not loose) HD in your bedroom.

option a the 612 is actually a dual sat tuner receiver.

you most economical choice would be option c
add an USBHarddrive to the 211 for a one time fee of $39.99 and then you would have a single tuner HD DVR with no additional monthly fee.

thanks for the fast reply... sorry about the spelling, i copy/pasted from audiohaulics, the original was typed out on my cell keyboard.. :)

dishes site says the 612 is a single tuner HD DVR...

regardless i think ill add the usb drive to my 211... after i pay the one time 39.99 is that good for my 622 also?

what size HDD would be adequate for single tuner duty? 500gig?

Re. Option B:NO difference between 622 & 722 for what you want to do. 722 just has a larger hard drive and it's black instead of silver. You can set your 622 to dual mode and do the same thing now. TV2 will be SD though. You'll have DVR capablity from either tuner. OR, if you can get a HDMI cable to the 2nd TV and put it in single mode and view HD on the 2nd TV--same channel/same time.
