Hello, I'm new here on Satellite Guys and I am interested on planning the TBS5922, but I do have questions:
1.It says you need LNB. What kind of LNB do I use, how do you hook it up on the TV Tuner, what do you do with it for the TV tuner?
2.The truth is that I'm 13 and I have problems calculating the oscillator frequency. Is there an easy way to do it?
3. Does this TV Tuner broadcasts satellite in the U.S.? (i.e. Echostar, Anik, etc)
4. Does Lyngsat have an oscillator frequency for a package provider or maybe in my area?

Why I wanna have it: I'm interested in some different TV stations and channels across the U.S. or maybe around the world.
My current tuner is the Hauppauge 950Q and if I accidentally break it, I would buy it.
Also, I'm kind of a curious dude....

:confused::confused::confused::confused:
If you reply to me, I'd be happy!
:D:D:D:D

Sorry for posting double threads.
How do you delete that previous thread with the a similar title like that, but with a mistake on "if"?

:welcome to SatelliteGuys Kevin!!

Welcome to the forum Kevin. So you decided to go swimming in the FTA pool. And to jump right into the deep end! LOL Satellite tuners for PC are a steep learning curve. Not simple to learn FTA satellite hobby with that but, I did it too. You will not only need to learn DVB equipment but software for the computer as well. That can be a major headache in itself. The QBox 2 USB tuner you indicated (TBS5922) is supported by several DVB programs. DVBDream is probably the most popular in the US. You can use many kinds of LNB/LNBFs Ku or C-band with this tuner.
This is strictley a satellite receiver, not an OTA TV tuner. I use a Hauppauge Nova S2 dvbs2 tuner with a Hauppauge HVR1250 ATSC tuner with MyTheatre DVB program. I also have a TBS pci tuner I use with DVBDream at times. I have a couple of C/Ku dishes that I primarily use.

Well, gosh... thanks. When welcoming me, I feel like I'm in the family.... Well anywho, about DVBDream, is it a free software or I have to buy it? Also, does it also record any shows you want? If not, I'd stick to WMC. Also, what LNBF should I get for TBS5922? What LNB Type should this tuner use?

The LNB(F) will need to fit the dish you selected. If you are buying a dish then select a combo package. A lot of the guys here have their equipment listed in their signature, like me. Check what the other people are doing. There is an endless combination of dishes and lnbs you can use depending on your wants and pocketbook. You will probably want a ku standard lnbf and a 36" dish to start into this hobby. A lot of reading is in front of you ;)

Hold on.. so I need both of the dish and LNB to do it?
I'm sorry, but I'm confused....

Yes you need a dish and lnbf. And maybe a motor to move the dish to different satellites. And lots of bits and pieces to put it all together. But first you need to get an idea of what is needed and how it works. Lots of reading to do. All you need is in this forum though.

Still I need to learn more about "oscillator frequency" how to calculate it and find out about it...
