Hope this is the correct section to post this question.

While the BOX (Directv Tuner Mod: HTL_HD ) is connected how can I record the digital channels, on VCR or DVD Recorder?

I do not have cable access.
Am using a antenna in the attic.

Equipment:
Directv Tuner Mod: HTL_HD (BOX)
Sony VCR Mod: SLV-N71
DVD recorder Mod: SV2000

With the antenna connected to the “antenna IN” Coax connection on BOX and then the 3 cables out to the TV, I can see all the regular channels and the digital channels just fine. :D

If I connect the antenna to the “antenna IN” Coax connection on BOX, then coax out of the Antenna out (on BOX) and run that through the DVD, VCR and back to TV with a 3 cables. If I scan the channels in either the DVD or VCR, neither one of them picks up all the channels, and none of the digital channels. :(

When the BOX is not in the loop the VCR and DVD recorder find all the off air channels when I scan for them.:)

1) Do the DVD recorder and VCR contain an ATSC tuner? If not (and I doubt they do), you will not be able to pick up digital channels from your antenna with the tuners in these devices.

2) You don't mention what the three cables out of the box are, but I'm guessing they're analog audio (red + white) and video (yellow). If so, why not just run the three cables to the vcr, three from the vcr to the dvdr, and three from the dvdr to the tv?

3) It's possible that the coax output from the box is channel 3 or 4 only.
