I am a new customer so maybe it is because I don't understand how it works. But...... For $10 a month I get some old movies/shows and the right to pay for new ones? I don't think so.

You don't understand BB@Home. For $10 per month, you get up to 20 channels most of which are movie channels. You also get dvd discs in the mail (1 at a time, for an additional $5 you can have 2 at a time, or for additional $10 gives you 3 at a time). 3rdly, if you have an HD dvr receiver you can stream the movies (and other programing) directly through your receiver, a lot of it would be free depending on what you subscribe to ie: having AT250 instead of AT120 gives you more free programs as well as subscribing to HBO Cinemax and Starz.

You also get a set of channels and at least one DVD per month through blockbuster that you can do an in store exchange with if you still have a store open near you if not you can direct mail back to and get the next DVD on your que

You can stream what ever you can find, if it's part of your subscription there is no additional charge. If it is not part of your subscription, there is a charge and it will be listed so you know what it is before you attempt to view/purchase it.

As a new customer, I thought everything was included. But if I find a movie I am interested in, it was me to pay $5.99.

I've had pretty decent luck getting an old movie in the mail, and then exchanging it at my local BB for a new release. I am suspicious that BB won't send me a brand new release by mail, even though that's what they advertised when Dish bought them and created this hybrid service. I too don't see new releases available for streaming, except at PPV cost. Never have. I think Dish has to negotiate with the studios for every different viewing opportunity we have.

It is a bit strange that there are long waits on the cue but when I go into my local blockbuster there are plenty of copies of the new release movies. It's a plus for sure to have a BB open, if you don't I can see the frustration with the service

There is always a hugh demand when movies are first released and stores seem to get priority on them as well.

When you search thru the movies hit the "*" button on your remote, then the list will only show the Free movies. All pay movies will be removed from the list.

Thanks for the help guys. I understand how it works now. I will say I am not impressed and once the free period is up will not be renewing.

I have looked thru the available movies and never saw one that I really wanted to see. Downloaded a few for future viewing and they expired before I got around to watching them. But I enjoy the mailed disc, as long as I got a local store to swap it at. Would not be worth it, if they close my local store.

My disc service is getting worse all the time. I was happy with it up until a month or two ago. Saw lots of complaining in here and couldn't see what the fuss was about. I always received either the first or second title in my Queue, and always BluRay. Now the first 7 titles I have all show a wait of some sort and I end up getting #8 or 9. I moved the first season of "Shameless" up to that spot as I DVR'ed the whole second season during the free preview we just had. But it looks like the party is over for me. Must have closed enough distro centers that mine is now under extreme pressure for new releases.

Oh well, there's enough TV series I can catch up on for now.

With 3 Redboxes less than a mile away, and 2 more just over, plus the growing mediocrity of Epix and HDNet Movies moved into regular programming, dropping it was an easy decision.

I've only been back with Dish for a couple of weeks. I've received 1 disc and have the second on the way. I've found several movies to stream.

Currently I have Netflix. For the same amount of money, I get a disc, streaming, and 20+ channels? I will probably keep BB@H and drop Netflix.

Are there reasons to not do the above?
